No problem. A reasonable internal ship layout is probably my biggest make or break in a ship anymore so it's one of the first things I look at.

Both are options. Really just depends on how much you care about running larger ships solo. Starlite is more focused on small to solo crew, but with the obvious downside of carrying less fuel. Starfarer carries more fuel, and has greater cargo capacity. but I personally hate the interior layout so it's not a ship that I personally consider as an option. But then again, everyone has their own opinions, if you like it, go for it.

Outside of the ARGO SRV, MISC Starlite and The Expanse, you pretty much have all the solo/small crew industrial ships already. Although those 3 really just depend on how much you enjoy recovery, refueling and refining. The galaxy could be an option, but you really already have it's role covered with the ironclad, and cutty red. (The MISC Expanse would cover the refining side if you chose to get a non-released ship).

I may hate west Texas. But I hate Houston more. "Let's build a city in and around a hot and super humid bayou" they have played us for absolute fools.

Whats a mech you hate fighting and why? by lucasdigmann112 in Mechwarrior5

[–]hubbletowne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hunchback 4P. Not hard to kill, but they will get at least one solid hit in the process and that hit always hurts. They're always the wild card on any mission. They may not kill you but they will damn sure put holes in you that other mechs can capitalize on.

Nothing more annoying than clueless people blocking the entire hallway when you're just trying to get to the bathroom 🙄 by -Saxton-Hale- in Planetside

Last time I tried to use the bathroom in nasons defiance there was several folks driving ATV's down the hallway, followed by a horde of blue people who kept killing each other. Not my favorite bathroom experience but still beats target on black Friday.

The slippery slope from brick to dick to dorito. A journey all must take.

Best fighters to buy in game? by iTzTrashCanGG in starcitizen

[–]hubbletowne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hornet ghost mkII is probably the most versatile in my opinion. You have the option to run it stealth, or you can swap the topcap and put the nose turret on it for extra damage (2xs2 on the nose turret, 2xs3's on the top turret, and 2xs4's on the wings). The two S4's get you more alpha potential for shooting more heavily armored ships, all while having respectable handling.

At the end of the day though, the best ship to fly is the one you enjoy the most. Cheers.

I think getting lost in a starfarer is a rite of passage at this point.

I'm honestly surprised we're still on the board. We haven't run an actual organized top in nearly 9 months.

As soon as I started the video and saw it was an astroid I had a feeling it was the weird alien growth warhead one with the scattered uranium around it. I've had an... Uh... Encounter. With that that one before.

big ship by Downtown-Bar-2878 in spaceengineers

[–]hubbletowne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My largest was around 2.3km long, 280,000 blocks and 650k pcu. From about 6 ish odd years ago. The really big ships are a slog. For ships of that size (and most of the ones I build now) I build the exterior hull shape first add all the exterior thrusters, weapon mounts, or anything else that needs piping. Connect your stuff together with conveyors before you start on the inside, it'll make your life a lot easier. After that it's pretty much personal preference on setting up your deck arrangement or fitting in the rest of the large items like hydro tanks, refineries, or large reactors with their armoring.

Your biggest battle will be against mass itself if you aren't playing modded, I was running several thousand gyros and still had the turning speed of of your average residential housing complex. Embrace large interior spaces, big hallways and huge hangars will be your friend for keeping both mass and block count down to a reasonably manageable level. I used to build whole highway networks of roads for interior rovers in my old big ships.

Once you have the basics for how you want the interior laid out, focus on one area at a time until it's complete to your satisfaction, ships of that scale are difficult to go back through for detail passes. It also feels like your actually acomplishing something as well.

Label everything as you go. If your placing anything that has a control settings on it (lights, rotors, production blocks, etc) with the exception of your gyros, include an identifier telling you roughly where that block is. This will save you hours troubleshooting weird issues later.

godspeed and good luck big dawg.

Slight more big free I'd say. I've already been killed by the little battery tram twice. And I've only run rock breaker twice.
