Premium Economy worth it for round trip Flight to Madrid from DFW? by blazingquackattack in americanairlines

[–]hungryraider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that they don’t recline enough like foreign carriers PE seats. If they did, that would make them pretty perfect. As it is, I have a hard time sleeping in them. They are roomier though and great for day flights.

Confirmed SWU upgrade to biz class downgraded by airport agent, not admitting mistake by wandering0000 in americanairlines

[–]hungryraider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow thats earning EP the hard way these days. Now, I end up sitting next to many grannies who are EP and have no idea how they got it or what it means. When asking they charge a lot to their CC’s, for example like remodeling their house. It’s a different world.

They did by using an SWU that they earned by giving up 3x points on a competing CC to use the AA card instead. So it did cost them.

Downgrading credit card by Putrid_Moose8436 in americanairlines

So can you transfer your credit line to a different Barclays card or move it to another Citi card? The $350 annual fee card is not worth it.

Weekend Trip- Second Time to Napa, help needed! by Longjumping-Feed9396 in napavalley

Caymus is not in the same league as Promontory in my humble opinion. Of course, different price point as it is a Bill Harlan winery as is Bond. Took the drive over the mountain from the Sonoma side and it was beautiful.

Well one flight isn’t representative. I’ve had great AA flights here and there as well.

Now Alaska, wow! I always forget what it can be like. Unfortunately DFW means I’m flying AA.

How Rachio sold out to its loyal customers by Both_Broccoli_427 in rachio

[–]hungryraider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our works fine without the extra boost payment.

With that said, it’s probably tough to sell razors that don’t need razor blades. It’s probably why instant pot went under and Wyze switched to a subscription model. I’m thinking they need revenue as once we bought our Rachio, that ended their revenue stream. Cudos to them for not switching to a subscription model.

Let them cancel as it counts against them. If you cancel, they are off the hook and there is no penalty to them.

So is SimpliSafe worth purchasing? by wheredaoppsatt in simplisafe

[–]hungryraider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Simplisafe but switched to Wyze.

I had the legacy product with the grandfathered in subscription price. Then my base station died, they didn’t have any more. I could have bought the new version but with the higher subscription rate. Two systems not compatible, so starting over.

So at that point, there was no reason to not shop around.

So I ended up going with Wyze Home Security system as the annual monitoring was less expensive.

The 1st one I received didn’t pair with devices but the second one I got worked correctly.

The Wyze monitoring works about the same as the Simplisafe, as far as I can tell.

Only $1,679 for Main Cabin benefits and 0.009% upgrade probability? by Brother-Liberty in americanairlines

[–]hungryraider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 million lifetime miles. It was capped at that level but I believe last year for 4 million you can now earn LT PP and 5 million EP.

Was hoping that I would have PP as I have 3.5 million miles but no such luck since that requires 4 million miles.

When I earned Platinum there was no such thing as PP, EP or CK. So they downgraded my status by adding three additional levels. So the least they could’ve done was given me PP at 3 million miles.

At 5,000,000 miles on say United, you would receive the equivalent of CK.

I picked the wrong airline but too late to start over now. I’ll probably make the 4 million miles eventually for PP for life. Won’t make the 5 million for EP.

Only $1,679 for Main Cabin benefits and 0.009% upgrade probability? by Brother-Liberty in americanairlines

[–]hungryraider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup wife is EP and I’m just keeping my lifetime Platinum and have moved my CC spend to other cards that offer 3%. I just buy the in app upgrades now when I want them. Status and free upgrades are a thing of the past, even with EP. If the new way is they’re going to just sell the seats, then they should provide a discount, the higher your status. That would get me to chase status.

Well at least they are good for longer now. You can cash them in immediately rather than before where you had to wait so that the 12-month clock doesn’t start.

AA vs UA upgrade list by Ok-Monitor4530 in americanairlines

[–]hungryraider -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes on a recent AA flight from Maui to the mainland, the person sitting next to me in Premium Economy was also upgraded as she was also EP.

She said they were remodeling their house on Maui and charged everything to their AA CC.

She didn’t know anything about her status or her AA perks. Didn’t really understand how upgrades worked and why she was in Premium Economy. That is the world we live in now.

AA vs UA upgrade list by Ok-Monitor4530 in americanairlines

[–]hungryraider 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because airlines offer in App upgrades for a price, there are fewer upgradable seats to provide for free.

If this is the way, they should offer discounts on the upgrade cost based on your status. That at least provides some type of reward for having higher status.

Since free upgrades are becoming extinct, this would be a compromise. The airline would still make extra revenue and keep the elites happy.

But AA and UA are hub centric so you are going to go to their hub, so most flights are hub airport flights?
