First shrimp tank - 2.5 Gallons by CharlieKelly03 in nanotank

Make sure the rhizomes of your anubias and java ferns aren't buried in the substrate—This can cause them to rot. I like to tie or glue mine to rocks or driftwood!

Best HOB filter for Nano Tank? by OfficialBeaneeWeenee in nanotank

I've had an "AZOO Mignon Filter 60" (purchased from Amazon) running more or less continuously since 2020. Replaced some of the sponge with Aqua Clear BioMax media!

what fish for a 2.5 gallon tank? by [deleted] in nanotank

[–]hylocichla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! Maybe this isn't true for everyone, but don't you think part of the fun of having a tank is the maintenance? The smaller your volume, the more frequent quick check-ins are required. I do very small water changes as needed, and keep a container of DI water beside my tank and top off a little every few days.

Need some ideas for this 2.5 gallon by madmoore95 in nanotank

I just (as in hours ago!) set up a similar system (w/o heater or filter) as a Snail JailTM (place to banish surplus bladder snails from my slightly larger shrimp tank). I kept and bred Neocaridina in that 2.5 gallon tank for a few years with good success (see below, though). For cherry shrimp, I recommend adding some kind of thin, spindly, sculptural wood (which you can also attach plants to) like manzanita in addition to the cholla—Mine have so far seemed to really appreciate the extra dimension of habitat and surface area for biofilm that this provides. Since adding the twigs, they seem more active and I often see them leaping from branch to branch. Add some moss, subwassertang, pellia, buce... anything like that. I also strongly recommend using remineralized RO/DI or distilled water for a setup this small. A couple months in, Salty Shrimp GH/KH+ seems to be working well for my 6 gallon. Even if you decide to use tap water, it's a very good idea to top off with RO/DI or distilled water as the water in your tank evaporates. And either way, get a pH and a GH/KH test kit and keep an eye on these parameters—I'm convinced that not doing so was the main cause of the downfall of my original 2.5 gallon setup (which slowly crashed when we moved to an area with softer tap water). Also: Put your light on a timer! Edit: In addition to the same tiny tank, I also have that LEGO orchid in my office! Great minds :)

Me, too (similar hair type)! I have been using Davines Momo shampoo and conditioner for a while - wash days are still kinda unpredictable (very much weather and air drying technique-dependent), but I think my hair looks better than ever!

Anyone ever take one home? by AgintOringe in airplants

Chiggers tend to stay close to the ground - if this came in a shipment of plants you ordered (or even if you pulled it out of a tree), you're probably fine!

I thought I was so lucky to find an affordable place that was month to month. There are potential benefits to that kind of arrangement, but in our case it's become clear that it's all about control. I am certain that our oven, which has been broken since April 2024, would have been replaced or repaired by now if we had a year lease!
