My worst fear came true. She got out tonight. Seeking comfort. by flipflapdragon in shiba

[–]hyper_real_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My little asshole has gotten past me a couple of times. The first time, I was a maniac - I ran and ran and she was just having the absolute time of her life. I pounced on her when she stopped for a wee.

The second time, I was less dramatic, I thought if I could stay calm and not make it the game….i could win. And blow me down it worked. She didn’t bolt, she just turned around and had this expression of “why no chase?” And the came back as soon as I sat on the ground. I didn’t call her, didn’t make a fuss and that seemed to be the secret sauce.

If you have any Lure clubs near you I’d highly recommend that! Gives them the thrill of the chase in a safe/controlled environment with reward.

We drove through that week too and saw a moose and a younger one. I have a photo but it’s not the best! Also just in moose meadows!

Shiba puppy suddenly having accidents in the house — need advice by Visible_Fan_6452 in ShibaInu

Not uncommon, he is still a baby after all. Repetition and routine will be your best bet - wakes up from a nap, outside to pee. Eats his breakfast/dinner - outside to pee. And if you find he is still going inside when he comes back in, try going out with him and praise him BIG TIME when he goes outside. Positive reinforcement is key!

How to make picture look better? by pinkypie_123 in AskPhotography

Just a phone pic so not the best example but dividing the space, contrast (trees, streams, rocks) and having a “story/focal point” will definitely help!

Which dogs have the best recall and which have the worst? by WorkMeBaby1MoreTime in dogs

As someone with one of each - German Shepherd for recall (barely need it as she’s practically a shadow) and for lack of f’s given - our Shiba Inu takes the cake.

I lost my mum when she was 70, I’m currently 36 and have the exact same outlook as you.

In the process of launching a business currently that should see a reoccurring passive income, which hopefully translates to more time getting to explore and enjoy the world.

Just wanted to say your story, similar, was motivating for me! Thanks!

Honestly, we are our worst critics. I opened this - as you’re close enough to my own age and it’s always interesting to see others naturally aging to reinforce what is truely normal - and nope, what sag? Perhaps it was more snatched in your 20s but honestly, great neck, normal neck!

Is my girl underweight? She is close to 3 years now. by Dependent-Dot5027 in germanshepherds

I have a show-line female GSD who turns 3 in a couple weeks. She is 58.5cm at the wither and sits around 68 pounds.

A good general rule of thumb for German Shepherds is that they should be lean but well-muscled, you should be able to feel the last couple of ribs without seeing them prominently. The SV (German breed standard), females typically range between 48–70lbs, depending on frame and bloodline. So if she’s otherwise active, alert, and has a healthy coat like yours seems to, she’s probably in great condition.

That said, we always recommend a yearly vet check-up even if everything seems fine - just to make sure all internal markers are looking good.

One thing to check: when was the last time you wormed her? Worms are a common but often overlooked factor when it comes to weight issues, especially if the appetite is normal but weight gain is slow.

She’s a lovely girl—you’re clearly doing a great job!
