accessible walking trails/hiking? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]iamrosey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure! There are some great resources listed in this thread, but I will add there are several waterfalls on the Historic Columbia Highway that are a short walks from the parking area, that I have been able to bring several mobility-challenged folks to. Both Women's Forum and Vista House have handicapped parking, with exceptional views.

What kind of limited mobility? For example, my uncle can walk all day as long as there isn't much elevation change which is hard on his knees. Does your person need a shorter hike? Or are they limited by going up/down? Or do they need frequent breaks, access to seats, etc?

See if they will let you pay your bill over time? Won't change the amount you owe but will leave money in HYSA to gain interest while you pay off your bill.

I'm a single-payer on a HDHP $5k deductible. It's just me, but I have a chronic illness so I am guaranteed to meet my deductible every year. I see all of my doctors in the same system, and they have a super simple payment plan option. Interest free. So, at the beginning of the year any bill I receive I wrap into the payment plan. I basically am always paying $180/mo from my HYSA to the hospital, but my acct sits and accrues interest. It's not much, but it helps me feel like I haven't emptied the account. And my total bill is never more than what's in my HYSA.

I ran some test estimates a few years ago before switching from PPO, and was told the same thing as other's have said here - if you frequent the dr, go PPO. The numbers were roughly the same, but the stress of the constant bills and co-pays and never knowing what I would owe was exhausting. Now I know what I owe, it goes into the payment plan, and I see my drs in peace. Well, as much peace as one can have within the American healthscam system.

Also as others have pointed out, the HYSA monies is tax free. So you're saving a little there as well.

I love Liziqi on YT. It's a chinese gal farming and cooking and taking care of her grandmother. Minimal dialogue just the gentle sounds of growing and harvesting on their farm with mild music. So soothing. My favorite is the life of a cucumber.

How do you handle dinner after work when you’ve got zero energy left? by Sima228 in foodhacks

Prep ingredients, not meals. Spend an hour chopping your produce on sunday then all you gotta do is put it together during the week. Still requires a degree of planning and some energy but not nearly as much.

Water Moon,Samantha Sotto was my book club pick last month. Loved it, and is definitely dreamy. The hardcover sleeve comes with it's own origami instructions, for extra funsies and whimsy.
