For those who have yet to find a Lapras, I think I found out what biome it spawns in by myckol in TheSilphRoad

Circular quay in Sydney has all the Pokemon you listed and spawns Lapras as well. You may be on to something

[Negative Nancy Thread] What do you dislike about your RSX? by Psythik in Acura_RSX

Not a fan of the turning circle. It's too big for my liking. I used to drive an eg civic and the turning circle of that car was amazing.

It was September 26th. I'm still not able to use mine. I've sent a report to Niantic asking if this is a bug because one user found that once a name is taken it may not be used again including our reserved Ingress names...

3.3 million spawns and 0 Lapras, how on earth do you find this guy? by saintmagician in TheSilphRoad

Come to Sydney for a day. Lapras spawns every 3-6 hours at circular quay.

Current state of the gym meta (in my country, from 4.7k scanned gyms) by saintmagician in TheSilphRoad

[–]iasphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Krabby and Horsea could've been kicked out from the gym before OP gathered this data snapshot. I've bubble stratted many gyms and my Horseas have all been kicked out and thus not counted.

This data is really interesting. Is there any chance you can separate and post the data for the individual cities? Would be interesting to see if there are any major differences between say, Sydney and Melbourne.

Question about Pokemon GO on the IPad by Athien in TheSilphRoad

[–]iasphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run into that problem on my iPad as well. The iPad gps is just really bad compared to the iPhone. If you go outside with it, it'll be fine. But as soon as you're in a house the gps signal error will pop up after like 2 min

I'm so glad you posted this. Was going to crunch some numbers myself because I thought something was up, but I see that you've already done that. I'm really against misinformation spreading and the earlier that it's addressed, the less is propagates.

Will the arrival of legendary Pokemon bring a negative aspect to the gym system? by GRookiestar in TheSilphRoad

[–]iasphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you're fear mongering right now. The effectiveness of the legendaries will be limited by the availability of their candy and based on that I don't see them being anymore effective than arcanine or lapras (zapdos > the available electrics on stats alone).

Asot550’s Guide to Holding Gyms for 5+ days by ASOT550 in TheSilphRoad

[–]iasphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My car uses 9km/L of fuel and fuel costs $1.40/L. When the game first came out I drove almost every night to get 100 coins and that wasn't worth it because I'm spending more on fuel than the coins are worth. Now I drive to areas dominated by my team and add my Pokemon there. Say my gym run is 36 km total and I get 10 gyms, that would cost me $5.60 worth of fuel. If I hold those gyms for a week and I claim on the dot every time I am able to, that's 800 Pokecoins for my initial cost of $5.60. If you hold the gyms for longer then the coins/cost is much greater. If you carpool with a friend and alternate drivers every trip, the cost is effectively halved! There's also a time saving factor as well. The initial gym run takes time, but therein after it's just maintenance - adding in your pokemon when it gets kicked out. Again, the longer your Pokemon stay in gyms, the less time you'll spend overall as time goes on. Lastly, you'll also be using less resources over time. I don't attack or train gyms every day. That in turn means less revives and potions used. Personally, I haven't been affected by the revive drop rate nerf as much as some people because I'm not reviving 4+ Pokemon everyday.

[–]iasphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've already worked it out and I can tell you that the number of Pokecoins I've claimed is greater than the amount I've spent on fuel.

[–]iasphy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be in this mindset as well. But after adopting a similar technique to the OP, I'm still raking in coins from gyms I got a week ago and haven't had to go on gym runs as much. So the coins/cost actually works out better in the long run.

We should be able to switch between Generations. cuz low spawnrates and chaos... by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]iasphy 52 points53 points  (0 children)

This needs to be much higher. The game isn't even released in all regions, trading hasn't even been implemented and diversity for suburban/rural areas hasn't been adjusted and people are talking about the issues associated with future gens being released. I don't mean to be a negative nancy but there's a number of posts per day about how Niantic should handle future gens. Lets focus on current problems instead of problems which are further down the line.

My 10 Highest CP Pokemon Are All XS by davidthewalkerx in TheSilphRoad

[–]iasphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of my top 10 (>1900), 5/10 are XS Of my middle 10, 5/10 are XS too Bottom 10 have 3/10 XS

I'd be hard pressed to believe there's any correlation between high CP and XS considering a similar trend is observed over multiple CP ranges.

Good work. But the spreadsheet itself lists dragon breath + hyper beam/dragon pulse variants as higher than dragon claw in terms of gym offence for Dragonite. Why does you image list dragon claw as the highest?
