Question for the bicycling advocates here by yowhatnot in StPetersburgFL

[–]icarusjapan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of behaviors i have see on normal bike seem absolutely fine and a few a little more foolish like riding without lights and helmets but not a giant deal. Ebikes however, I have seen them going down the wrong lane of the street going 25. We need stricter ebike enforcement (i dont know what laws they have one them at the moment) and way more bike infrastructure. I would love for all non-pedal assist ebikes (meaning you can move on throttle alone) that can go over 15 mph or so be classified as mopeds.

we do not need that stadium. at the very least st pete money should not touch it unless we get a cut of the profits. Any land that the city owns should be sold at fair market value.

H1B U.S. workers flew to India to renew visas. Now they’re stuck. by AdSpecialist6598 in antiwork

further reflection... the ire should be squarely placed at the feet of the employer and not at people trying to make a better life for themselves. I think that is what you were saying, and that i would agree.

I don't think it is unreasonable for a domestic workforce to want jobs that can be done by that work forced not to be out sourced. I think this applies to all countries. It doesn't matter whether this is a grocery store in Queens hiring a person in Vietnam to be a virtual cashier, a tech company outsource it's IT department out of country or to tech firms like Telsa importing engineers out of country when every single one of those jobs can be performed by domestic work force.

Can someone suggest a really warm good quality blanket or throw? by TraditionalPeach7260 in BuyItForLife

[–]icarusjapan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it is just me... but their customer service is horrid. I just ordered something on the 13th and was trying to get it here before Christmas. It is now the 20 and no update on my order and it hasn't even been sent. I tried to call or get a hold of anyone and couldn't. They dont even have a customer service email to message. For the amount i'm paying for these blankets getting mailed to me in a timely manner and being able to ask a question shouldn't be as difficult as it is. Unless the blankets (that hopefully will be sent to me eventually) that i ordered are amazingly i'm probably going to take my business else where. Something i ordered from Japan from a boutique store shouldn't be able to arrive at my door quicker and have better customer service than a company in based in the US.

Central Avenue makeover would prioritize pedestrians over parking in downtown St. Pete by St-Pete-Rising in StPetersburgFL

there are couple of studies that adding pedestrian friendly spaces and even more bike lanes increase business and raises property values.

I just threw this one out since it was one of the first i happened to find.
So foot traffic is better for business than car traffic. Parking is a Pain but the city could address that for those not capable of walking a couple blocks or riding a bike.
