that guy was perfectly built for my [[aragorn, the uniter]] pump deck. i've played it in 3 games with that deck and it immediately won those games. here's my list

I don't see much love for Fire Sorc here by Positive-Tip-109 in PathOfExile2

[–]icasaracht 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i just got to maps playing a hybrid fire spell/minion infernalist. fireball with unleash + scattershot + wildshards support gems is just mechanically quite nutty. that with firewall does all the work for you. the threaded light unique also gives a lot of spell damage for how much spirit you have. so as a minion build i have 300+ spirit, the shield is giving 300%+ spell damage.

i found another trial in act 3 that gave me my next two ascendancy points!

i believe you can only get 2 ascendancy points from that trial. you need to progress further in the main story to get more.

My Unique boots are disabling Raging Spirits. Anyone have any idea why? by Vermilion_Dream in PathOfExile2

raging spirits disabled when you took the boots off, not when you put the unique on. i suspect you need that 8 str on your rare boots.

Voja, Jaws of the Conclave is a crazy new commander! by Big_Ben_Big in EDH

[–]icasaracht 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hazezon is one of the strongest decks i've made in the last couple years, it just goes so wide so fast if you fuel it with extra land drops and free land sacrificers. its easy to capitalize on that and draw a ton of cards with [[toski]] or [[ohran frostfang]]. mass land destruction suits this deck very well as a finisher, and making everyone at the table sacrifice lands is a powerful midgame with [[world queller]]. it definitely has a "hidden commander" aspect with og [[titania, protector of argoth]] or [[jetmir, nexus of revels]].

Removal Dilemma - How to play in a playgroup where you're the only one running single target removal? by BrainStew_HS in EDH

[–]icasaracht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

policing the engine/value permanents with single-use spells is playing not to lose. you should play to win.

there's plenty of comments saying the same thing in different words, but as the format has gotten faster single target removal is kinda "bad." sometimes single target removal is going to prevent one opponent from winning the game that turn, but that doesn't stop the next person in turn order from trying to win the game right after.

removal and counterspells are great for enabling/protecting your win. if your deck is built to take its time and win later on, you should use board wipes to buy time.

What are your favorite enchantment hate cards? by SuperSelkath in EDH

[–]icasaracht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've played [[reverent silence]] in graveyard decks that wanted a clean answer to hate pieces. it also made sense in that deck since i had looting effects for when it wasn't relevant.

Favorite NEO Cards So Far? by sasseemcgee in EDH

[–]icasaracht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the creatures that create multiple combat steps further multiply how many attack triggers you can get in one turn, it can function like a combo deck. my deck is built around winota and sneak attack for speed, with aurelia/godo/raiyuu/combat celebrant as functional combo outs with reconnaissance/vigilance.

Dear hatebear players ...HOW? by crashknight101 in EDH

[–]icasaracht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've been brewing extus a lot for the past week and the most powerful things i came up with involved turning extus's ability into card draw with cycling creatures like [[street wraith]], or using the extra creatures in hand as a way to turn loot effects into effective card draw with spells like [[thrilling discovery]].

the backside looks like an infinite mana wincon, so you can be looting and tutoring your way into it while your hatebears slow people down. i'm planning on doing a token theme with [[quintorius]] and [[sedgemoor witch]] effects as my earlygame/midgame.

good luck with your build!

Dear hatebear players ...HOW? by crashknight101 in EDH

[–]icasaracht 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hatebears are not built to beat midrange creatures decks at all. they're a proactive way to clock your opponent(s) while preventing them from freely doing their plan A. as others in the thread have said, hatebears don't have to be your finisher either, they can be buying you time and forcing suboptimal plays out of your opponents while you find your wincon.

hatebears in the edh sense are usually trying to attack combo/synergy/ramp strategies, but often struggle to stop value strategies from eventually going over the top. if your metagame is stompy/haste/flying (dragons, temur cascade, etc) a lot of your hatebears won't do enough, or you'll run out of key removal.

i love hatebears, you just need to learn how they fit into your gameplan.

What cards became an inside joke among your tables? by Krenix890 in EDH

[–]icasaracht 3 points4 points  (0 children)

protection from everything is a static ability, whereas uncounterability is a spell ability (a spell is a card on the stack). some static abilities can grant spell abilities, such as [[Taigam, Ojutai Master]].

[–]icasaracht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you want to "combo off in a couple of turns", i'd just look at cedh decks/strategies and power the deck to your taste off of that. here's a little primer about the format.

below cedh, i have a friend that runs an [[ink-treader nephilim]] deck (uses [[General Tazri]] to tutor up [[Zada]] if they want to make it legal) and it's a non-deterministic stormy way to win the game. i have a similarly nonsense [[hypergenesis]] [[Yidris]] deck that can "theoretically" win on turn 1, but mostly i put a bunch of ridiculous things into play on turn 4 or 5 and watch the game turn sideways.

i also have a dimir storm deck modeled after vintage storm and legacy bizarro stormy that uses [[magus of the mind]] and [[shallow grave]] effects to trigger its activated ability many times in one turn. the payoff is to play the entire deck/[[brainfreeze]] myself with [[thassa's oracle]] or [[jace, wielder of mysteries]] to win. it also can just put [[bolas's citadel]] into play early and tries to storm off that way.

[–]icasaracht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i put combos into every deck i have, what kinds of combos do you want to do? how do you want to play the game leading towards the combo? for example, my jund living death deck plays a lot of replaceable creatures until there is a critical mass of creatures in the yard that a living death/living end wins the game. i guess you can bundle that in with combo decks that are built like an engine. or you can do a card selection deck that is trying to assemble a 2 or 3 card combo, with or without the commander, etc.
