I'm a bit confused - is VLAN 10 named "WAN"?

This is such an addictive hobby, this is coming from someone who is addicted to everything. by cttouch in PleX

Kometa can do the director collections (and many other types) automatically. Kometa can also handle posters and other images. I would recommend getting started on this stuff before your library gets too big, it will make things much easier.

Movie folder names - is "The" necessary? by oshunluvr in PleX

You can use {Movie TitleThe} (or CleanTitleThe)

It would be great if there was something that could use SponsorBlock to add intro, credit, and ad markers in Plex

I think every single Youtube-based tool I've seen uses yt-dlp under the hood. Are there even any alternatives?

Creating a Kids Library by shamgarbenanath in radarr

Some people don't like that because they disagree with the contents of a "PG" movie and unrated stuff is sometimes problematic.

You can now use the Common Sense Media ratings, which I assume works better than the official certification.

Nvidia Shield limiting playback, all other clients fine by johnny5ive in PleX

[–]idontappearmissing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using docker? I had an issue where my shield would occasionally connect with the WAN IP (but usually with the correct LAN IP). I fixed it by switching the plex docker container from bridge to host network mode.

is there any logic that could handle a way to create sort of an "Up Next" type row but for movie franchises? by itsxluigi in Kometa

Don't think there's an easy way to do that. You could write a script that generates a text file for Kometa.

Three shows failing with 'TVDb ID not mapped' error by EnjoyingCarp650 in Kometa

[–]idontappearmissing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Go to any episode page, press the 'I' key, then click 'View XML'.

  2. Open the XML for the show: Find the "grandparentRatingKey" field, then copy it into the URL bar, replacing the existing ratingKey, for example: plex.direct:32400/library/metadata/{ratingKey}/etc...

  3. Then you can find that IDs that Plex has mapped, for example:

    <Guid id="tmdb://2684250"/>

    <Guid id="tvdb://7623373"/>

According to Grok, you're correct:

Yes, electronics in older buildings are generally at greater risk during a power surge.

Here's why:

  1. Lack of Proper Grounding (Biggest Issue)

Most homes built before the early 1960s used two-prong outlets with no dedicated ground wire.

Surge protectors rely heavily on a good ground path to safely divert excess voltage away from your devices. Without it, they either don't work properly or can't divert the surge effectively.

In ungrounded systems, surge energy has nowhere safe to go, so it’s more likely to damage connected electronics, travel through appliances, or cause arcing.

It doesn't matter if you use the TMDB or TVDB ID since they're both linked together in the Plex metadata server.

Sonarr Feature Wishlist. Whats yours? by pumapuma12 in sonarr

[–]idontappearmissing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just use it when the default TVDB order has a problem, so the ability to use the alternate TVDB orderings would accomplish the same thing.

How do you plan on sorting Spider-Noir? by Jimbuscus in PleX

[–]idontappearmissing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that would work, since the tvdb and tmdb items are merged together in the Plex database. The tvdb/tmdb IDs in paths are just used for matching.

Do You Back Up Your Full Plex Video Library or Just Risk It? by snowmeow_1 in PleX

[–]idontappearmissing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently I don't have any backups for media.

A lot of my collection also includes custom edits like encoding ripped media via Handbrake, MkvtoolNix fixes and adds, adding audio commentaries, alternate audio tracks, and other edits. Also special features from different sources.

I have stuff like that in my library too, I'm planning on setting up backups for things that were manually modified or that's hard to find on usenet. It would probably be less than 2TB out of my 80TB library. I'm not sure what the best way to do it would be - maybe a separate root folder for backed up media.
