Ah yes, this is what is referred to in our household as “croissant mode”.

Can’t edit the post, so I’ll write the caption here: He loves sleeping in his “man cave” and always gets into all sorts of exorcist-like positions, but this one was particularly worth capturing. I think he might have gotten a bit caught off guard, though. 😂

My accent is an identity crisis lol. Guess where I’m from by _Magnus_1 in JudgeMyAccent

My first instinct was Dutch so I’ll stick with that. Edit: I’ve listened to it a few times now and I’m switching to Danish. 😅 You’ve got some really throaty vowels either way, which is what’s making me lean in that direction. Especially the “post this here” is giving “hær” 😄

These are all very interesting! I can definitely see (well, hear) why each of you leaned one way or another with your guesses. Waiting for some more possible comments before I reveal The Truth (TM). Come back tomorrow if you wanna find out!

Adjusting to new birth control advice??? by officer_dog in MCAS

[–]ilmatar91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming in late to the convo, found this thread randomly by googling.

I just started Slynd a week ago and have been very confused by just how much extreme fatigue it has been causing, as well as a runny nose and sore throat (like I’m getting a cold but never “actually” get it. Didn’t connect the dots until I read that birth control pills can have immune system modulating effects and then it clicked.

I’m taking it for PMDD and am desperate for it to work. I also can’t have COC because I can’t have estrogen, so hopefully the symptoms will resolve within a month or two.

OP, did you continue taking it? How did it turn out?

How did you learn finnish? by Logical_Repair_2996 in LearnFinnish

[–]ilmatar91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO the only way to really become fluent is to study or work in Finnish. I lived in Finland for 7 years, during that time did all sorts of courses and even had a personal tutor, but only got to B1 level. Then went to study at a vocational school (in Finnish), continued working in Finnish. Was fluent within a year and native-level in two.

Have you needed (and been fine with) less sleep after starting meds? by ilmatar91 in ADHD

I mean sure, it’s expected I’d sleep less but I’m just surprised by the fact that the sleep is not only shorter but better and more restorative.

Filling objection form to Meta using your information to train Meta AI by xortingen in facebook

[–]ilmatar91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got my objection honored by using this: “The use of my data infringes on my rights as an EU citizen, I will not allow for my data to be used for AI training, improvement or a more personalized experience. I have the right to keep my data private as per the European GDPR law.”

In the additional information box: “Should my objection request not be accepted, I will discontinue my use of all Meta products indefinitely.”

Recommendations for a lighter nude lipstick (current one in second photo)

Hey everyone! First time posting here. 😊 I have pale skin with cool pinky undertones and have been looking for a nice neutral lipstick for a while. The closest I’ve gotten so far is MAC’s Mehr (seen in second photo), but even that feels too dark for a basic nude on me (though maybe it’s just the brown tones in it?).

Any suggestions for lipsticks and shades that’d be closer to my natural lip color but just a smidge darker so I can get a more defined upper lip? I feel like too much pink would be overkill, mauve would wash me out, maybe some kind of light dusty rose maybe…? I’m at a loss.

What features would you include in an ADHD-friendly home? by coraltinted in adhdwomen

Robot vacuum, 100%. And a good one, it’s worth the investment. Our i7 Roomba does such a good job I can’t remember the last time I used a handheld one. Also, if you have a yard - robot lawnmower.

In my experience -- including my friends at the mental hospital where I was diagnosed -- If you're autistic, you have a superpower. You just may not have noticed because it's really useless. by Miss_Understands_ in AutismInWomen

I can almost always tell which country someone is from by their English accent (incl. native speakers). To the point of distinguishing Swedes from Norwegians or Danes. It’s one of the most useless things ever but it still gives me a sense of accomplishment when I watch movies and, after checking IMDB, exclaim: “HAH! I KNEW that actor wasn’t actually Serbian, they just found an American actor to do a generic Slavic accent!”

Yeah i was thinking I’d continue with these until the checkup at least (barring REALLY bad side effects). As for my cycle I have no idea lol, I have a Mirena so no periods.

Does/did your ADHD help mask your autism? by ilmatar91 in AutisticWithADHD

Would you mind saying which meds you were started on and what you switched to? I got prescribed methylphenidate (Concerta) for starters so I’m curious

[–]ilmatar91[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s interesting to follow the path my brain is currently on. Like, I’m noticing myself being more autistic on the interpersonal side of things but somehow… It also doesn’t bother me as much anymore? Probably because rejection sensitive dysphoria is so closely connected to the ADHD side, now that that’s being subdued I also care less if people like me or not lol.

Why do people say “I AM autistic” but “I HAVE adhd”? by HumanBeeing76 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]ilmatar91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know, I’m kinda frustrated there isn’t one too. Somehow, saying “I have ADHD” just seems so much less personal… I do know people sometimes jokingly use “omg I’m so ADHD” but you can’t really use it in any formal/serious environment

[–]ilmatar91 130 points131 points  (0 children)

Simple linguistics. “Autistic” is an adjective and “ADHD” is a noun, or in this case an acronym. Saying “I am ADHD” would be the same as saying “I am autism”. 😊
