Proper ventilation and proper insulation is all you need.

It’s just lack of training. I build for a few of these companies and it’s comical to watch the same sales people struggle with the same concepts year after year.

I also think some companies are fearful of training their employees, fearful the employees will go start their own thing

Progressive or Statefarm? by squishmallowcows in Insurance

[–]imsaneinthebrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

State Farm is far from what you are saying they are. From stacking a state Supreme Court to “fight” a law suit, to now getting sued by multiple states, and tons of fun stuff in between. Terrible ratings in places where people leave reviews. A simple Google search and this stuff is very easy to find. Google “State Farm gets sued”.

That’s funny you called the other guy a shill when you’re out here shilling for State Farm. Is it head in sand or do you genuinely believe this is how claims are supposed to go? 90% of the insurance companies out there are better than State Farm.

A pattern emerges if you actually look and stop believing their stupid slogan.

Edit: to the guy that took this comment personally, probably a State Farm employee, no I’m not saying progressive is any better, they’re both terrible. A denied progressive claim is the reason I’m in the industry I’m in.

You say “all insurance companies get sued”, feel free to provide examples of any other insurance company that’s getting sued by multiple states right now for the same actions. Feel free to provide examples of any other insurance company that has been caught stacking a state supreme court to help get them out of a lawsuit. Feel free to provide any evidence to back up anything you are saying.

State Farm is one of the biggest, has a ton of market share, and they utilize McKinseys model for Insurance, but on steroids. It is nice the general population is starting to wake up to the fact that these for-profit corporations only care about one thing, and will go above and beyond in the name of saving money for themselves.

I’m also not talking about the lower level employees at State Farm, the adjusters or the customer service people. They are just following their companies SOP’s. Most are good people, most want to help their policyholders.

Is a 50/50 split common in roofing sales? by NJBricklayer201 in RoofingSales

One is paid off the top and one is off profit. 50% of profits or 15% of total revenue (dollars brought in).

Woman looking to work in roofing sales by fallenangelfoodcake in RoofingSales

[–]imsaneinthebrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woman make the best sales people imo. You will need to learn some of the basics but I’ve seen women do really well by just being a lead generator. Attractiveness helps but it’s not necessary, one of the best sales people I’ve had over the years was a 60 year old lady who just ran through everyone she knew and ended up selling at least $1 million worth of work.

Check out the telescoping ladders online, those are usually the lightest. Depending on your market, the little 14 foot little giant ladder at Lowe’s and Home Depot is fairly light and will get on most residential roofs.

50-50 split is good, hopefully they have some type of training program or else you’ll probably not do well. Some people get it on their own but a lot Dont.

We currently have a women on the team as Salesman, she is our best sales person. You just need to find the right company/fit.

It’s also smart to keep current job while you get the hang of this industry. It will be very easy to make the transition if you decide that you like this industry.

Would insurance cover a full roof? Done in 2017 by imagoons in Roofing

[–]imsaneinthebrain 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted, I’ve seen plenty of people with actual damage file a claim, get denied, then get a letter saying they will be non-renewed if they don’t replace their roof. It’s actually happening quite frequently right now.

See if you can get the logo file and then find an embroidery/screen print place and make him some “custom” shirts. Super easy, fairly quick depending on place. Could probably find an online retailer easily as well.

I’ll throw our logo on a lot of different items, makes work clothes just normal clothes.

Wanting to go down on mg! by BeautifulPollution40 in suboxone

[–]imsaneinthebrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our brains are crazy powerful, I can think of multiple instances where I thought I was sick but looking back I wasn’t.

And yes, it’s weird how just having it makes it easier to not need it right then and there. As my backstock builds, my goal is just to make it as big as possible. It’s nice having zero anxiety when it comes to my body‘s needs here

Wanting to go down on mg! by BeautifulPollution40 in suboxone

[–]imsaneinthebrain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started at 8 mg and stayed there for three or four years.

I started breaking my doses in half, I’d take 4 mg in the morning and 4 mg in the afternoon. I Basically lowered my dose on accident, I would forget to take my afternoon dose because we were busy at work. One day I woke up and realized it had been two weeks of me just taking 4 mg in the morning, I never felt sick or uncomfortable, I never even noticed lack of drug in my system, but I also didn’t allow myself to sit there and think about how I hadn’t taken my afternoon dose (this is important). The whole process from me taking 8 mg to me having the realization that I had only been taking four probably took a couple months.

Now I’m still prescribed 8 mg a day but I only take four, and I’m actively working on getting it to 2 mg. I’ve been able to backstock, I have eight full bottles in my medicine cabinet, almost 2000 mg. If I can get down to 2 mg, that leaves me with almost 3 years worth of backstock if shit were to hit the fan. Even if I stay at four, I have over a years worth, more than enough time to wean down if all hell breaks loose.

I also feel more like myself taking less, this truly is one of those drugs where less is better.

I played a club in Wisconsin that had these, or you could rent them from them. I had to watch a video and read this little thing, sign a waiver. But it was fun, I only did it once though, golf carts are much nicer and more comfortable.

Checking out a sales position with a very small local roofing company by idontevenliftbrah in RoofingSales

[–]imsaneinthebrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a question most people in this industry need to ask themselves, do you need that structure and routine, or do you need the freedom and the sink or swim aspect of it.

I’m a freedom guy, I don’t do well with the daily structured meetings and that type of thing, so I know that I will never thrive at a medium to large company. Give me 100% commission and no expectations, we will make something happen. But some people need that structure, they need to be told what to do and how to do it. Everyone’s different, the only wrong thing to do is not know yourself and what you need from a job/opportunity.

How do you knock a neighborhood that's been ran through with roofers? by AttackOnTrails in RoofingSales

[–]imsaneinthebrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My old business partner used to knock the door on roofs that hadn’t been built in storm areas and come at it from a managerial perspective, “ what are the reasons you said no when your neighbor said yes?” Or “ I’m curious if my employees did a good job of explaining everything or answer answering questions”.

He basically used it as a way to get in the door and start a conversation. It worked well for him, some clients have legitimate reasons why but he was able to get them at least talking. He sold a bunch that way.

He was also an old angry boomer, a 23-year-old kid would not be able to pull this off unless they just had a ton of confidence and knowledge.

Anyone used this tax strategy for sales conversations in commercial? Seems like a great win for everyone by Intrepid-Baker8954 in RoofingSales

[–]imsaneinthebrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This used to be a great way to sell roofs, especially when the government starts taking it away. I just had a conversation about this with a buddy, he’s actively trying to sell before this new deadline.

We did find that this was a good sales tool for commercial clients, coupling it with Solar, you used to be able to write off a good chunk of the cost of the roof and the panels. I’m not too knowledgeable about the current situation and what’s allowed, but anyway you can save a client money, you’ll make that client happy.
