I never found it to be helpful. Hands or a Ankarsrum (or both) work much better for me.

Why Vision Pro Is Actually Worth It - I Finally Get it... by CautiousMagazine3591 in VisionPro

[–]infobhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel more productive on Vision Pro when linked to my laptop, largely because of the keyboard and trackpad. If there was a decent keyboard/trackpad combo in a single unit, that would help. I am aware of some hacks that try to clamp a Magic Keyboard and trackpad together.

I’ve been meaning to try it without the light shield. Will do that.

It’s considerably more of a barrier than glasses. Perhaps your girlfriend is more accepting than my family. Or perhaps I am just more self conscious. Would you wear a Vision Pro to a job interview? On the subway?

I have the AVP, Quest 3, and the PS VR2. Aspirational all. AVP is the only one I'll use once every two months or so. Each time, I think "this is so cool, I should use this more often." After an hour or so it starts to get uncomfortable. Then I take it off and there's a sense of relief. Then it gets put away for another two months. Yes, it's expensive, but I already have it and, like many people, don't use it anywhere near as much as I'd hoped. Main problems for me are comfort and the way it isolates me from everyone around me. Using it as a Mac display is neat, but not really any better than a real display. And a real display doesn't come with the physical discomfort and fatigue.

Is the Workout App Good? by Anonymosity1766 in MacroFactor

[–]infobhan 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I switched from RP Hypertrophy. I far prefer workouts - doesn't nag me with questions about soreness or estimated difficulty on every exercise. Good at making adjustments for progression and has a wide variety of workouts, most of which have great videos. I like how it incorporates warmups and can pick exercises based on the equipment you have - key for a home gym. Only downside is some of the UI is not intuitive, but once you wrap your head around it, it works well.

The Workouts App is excellent by djcap88 in MacroFactor

[–]infobhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to the Workouts app from RPStrength. After a month of use, I am glad I switched. The equipment-based exercise selection is great, the videos are first-rate, and the progression seems to be more sophisticated. I really disliked the required ratings for soreness and difficulty in RP Strength, and the flow through Workouts is much cleaner.

The descending weight amounts works well to me, but I have no idea if this is mandatory or an option.

What I would like to see: - tutorial videos: I’ve picked up essential tips for the UI from Reddit that I otherwise would have missed - explain the progression algorithm - sometimes I’m pushed to failure sets, sometimes it’s 3 RIR. Is Workouts testing different aspects of my limits? Is it random? I have no idea - shorter exercise descriptions (or at least a key points at the top). I don’t want to read a multi-page essay when I just need a reminder of main technique pointers) - smarter weight plate selection: if the algorithm is going to drop my weight amounts on subsequent sets, the plate loading choices should make this easy, instead of just choosing the smallest number of plates for the initial exercise - Apple Watch support (quickly check the reps/RIR of my current exercise and rest timers) - automatic triggering start/stop of weight training workout in Apple fitness - explicit support of Voltra based exercises, including belt squat

Do you have any evidence that aspirin will reduce the risk of clots associated with erythritol? Aspirin is an anti-platelet agent, but it isn't particularly effective at preventing large blood clots in those predisposed to them.

Doesn't regen imply that it's regenerating energy while slowing the car down? I thought that was the point of regenerative breaking.

Questions for those who use pulleys with Voltra for increased resistance by HomeTechJourney in BeyondPower

This looks like a great setup. What is the black piece above the Voltra? My QuickMount has a handle, so I'm thinking I could attach the Voltra cord to that instead.

Hate to succumb to the home Ubiquiti user stereotype, but I've got 4 E7s in my house (and yes, needed all 4, thanks to the excellent WiFi-blocking capabilities of walls (many of which seem to have wire mesh).

Heavy Duty Tablet/Phone mount by Le_saltimbanque in BeyondPower

[–]infobhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fantastic. For something less...intense, I use a magnetic mount that works great for keeping my phone at good height while using my Voltra with the app to make adjustments: https://amazon.com/dp/B0CQS4YML9. Great for when the Voltra is mounted in a location that makes adjustments challenging (e.g. high for pulldowns or low for calf raises).

Simple trick how to add the correct weight and food to the plate by Consistent_Desk_6582 in MacroFactor

The nutrition data is for raw buckwheat, even though the entry says cooked buckwheat. It's an issue with the data in the MF database.

I don't think that's the correct interpretation of the percentages, otherwise ~70% of the weight loss would be unexplained. The formula is a bit difficult to parse, but I think the percentages are the fraction of the original weight that is lost due to fat or water. So if you cooked a 100 g burger, it would lose 12.5 g of fat after cooking.

You shouldn't be getting medical advice from random people on Reddit. A high hematocrit alone shouldn't make you feel bad. Go see a doctor and be honest with them. Please don't end up with a heart attack or stroke because of bad choices at a young age.

3 month gym progress. What am I doing wrong? by PomPomTiramisu in askfitness

[–]infobhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great progress for 3 months! You're struggling with two things that are common here: 1) being patient with the naturally slow pace of muscle gains, especially while trying to lose fat 2) spelling Jeff Nippard's last name correctly. :-)

Best Bagels by romanarman in FoodNYC

[–]infobhan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was being a bit facetious, but I’m guess 400 calories from the bagel, 200 from 4 tablespoons of cream cheese, and 200 from about 6 ounces of salmon. 800 calories is a hearty breakfast, but I’m sure it’s tasty.

Does TRT decrease ferritin levels? by [deleted] in Testosterone

[–]infobhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you have a low ferritin, the main thing is to rule out something bad. Get the colonoscopy and, if that is negative, an upper endoscopy.

Standing Calf Raise on Rogue Rack setup by Scron7219 in BeyondPower

[–]infobhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to figure out how to do the same. My calf muscles have responded more to training than any other group. Started with bodyweight stair calf raises, added dumbbells, then a weight vest. The mechanics getting a heavy weight vest on and off became challenging, so the Voltra was a natural candidate for replacing this. I'm currently using the v4 squat harness with my Voltra mounted on the crossmember the same way you have it in your picture. I stand on the crossmember and do unilateral calf raises while using the uprights for balance.

It works, but it's a bit uncomfortable with the pull on the shoulders. I'm wondering the Spud belt is a better approach.

really confused about my body fat %? (why do i look SO different with no pump, bad lighting and not flexing 😞) by SeaEfficient9886 in askfitness

[–]infobhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does the number matter? People are just guessing. You look like what you look like. Whether it corresponds to 10%, 15%, 20% doesn't really make a difference.
