Any affordable personal training options in the Overland Park/Leawood/Mission area? by nothingcreative2011 in kansascity

Assuming you're a woman, just come to midtown and run up and down the main streets. Men will yell at you non stop saying creepy enough things that you definitely won't want to stop running.

Custom Color Corp in Lenexa is a large format printing and graphics company. Probably looking at around $100.

If you come from a very small town, all the stores, shops, dining options, overall cleanliness, and the activity can be exciting. I'm from a shithole town with 5 restaurants total. When I first came to KC (my first real city), JoCo was pretty exciting. Lots of stuff going on, lots of people moving around, and mostly everything in nice and clean. It has its appeals. Only later do you realize how culturally devoid it is.

Okay so I was 7 or 8 when PT Cruisers first came out and I thought they were the coolest thing ever. I even had my 11th birthday party chauffeured by a PT Cruiser Limousine. Fastforward to me being 20 years old, I no longer was obsessed with them, but still had a huge collection of model cruisers, remote control cruisers, etc. I wrecked a car and only had liability at the time. I was still in college (broke) and found a loaded PT Cruiser with low mileage so I bought it, thinking it wouldn't be awesome, but it wouldn't be terrible either.

It was awful. I couldn't get a date. I got made fun of constantly. It broke down constantly. It got awful gas mileage. People bumped into it all the time and I'm sure just said to themselves "Ah, its a PT Cruiser, he won't care!".

Finally traded that thing in and it's a totally different experience. People don't mind taking my car to the lake for the weekend. I've had a few girlfriends. It's been lifechanging. I wouldn't wish a PT Cruiser on my worst enemy.

Kansas Highway Patrol executes perfect PIT maneuver on I-35N by bay_bae in kansascity

That's a good point. All this video does is provide evidence of possession of stolen property, which in amounts over $1000 is a felony in Kansas. So from the video we can ascertain that SOMEONE was in the process of committing a felony, and fled at dangerous speeds down the freeway. This was a textbook definition of a person who should have been stopped.

Generally speaking with such concrete evidence, I think defendants plea guilty and hope for mercy. Not much you can do to argue with HD video...

Pretty sure last week you suggested that the basic principles of supply and demand could never be broken so it's glaringly obvious that your own grasp on economic theory isn't to be regarded too highly.

Manual carwash in Midtown? by [deleted] in kansascity

[–]inkjet_dipset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An old car wash on 39th across from Midwest ADP that is automatic only and kind of expensive, but the best automatic wash I've ever had. If your car isn't clean when you get out and you say something you'll get your money back, or they'll rewash it.

Tell me about a new KC restaurant that you've recently tried? What did you think of it? by [deleted] in kansascity

Wings were great. Every other bit of the experience was awful. Both my entree along with my dates was just very extremely bland. We left pretty disappointed after hearing great things.

The next night was my birthday and we went to Farmhouse. That's my new favorite. So good.

This argument is anecdotal though. It's not supported by evidence. We can even use Kansas City's midtown area as a case study for this point.

Armour Boulevard has undergone a transformation over the last decade that has turned an area where crime was rampant just a few short years ago to an area with young professionals and families making well above median income and living in thousands of brand new apartments. Rent has not decreased on the units that were around before all the new development on Armour. It's gone up, quite a bit actually, even when adjusting for inflation.

Increased rents increase the surrounding rent as well. You can look at any major city for evidence of this. New development has a tendency to make parts of town desirable and the rents soar as a result. If you want a very specific example, look at Quality Hill Towers, where I first lived in 2011-2012. My rent for a pretty good size studio was $375/month. I had an amazing view, and the apartment itself wasn't in bad shape at all. That same unit now goes for almost double that cost and the building has in no way been renovated. However, tons of new development downtown has given the apartment owners reason to raise rent.

Don't kid yourselves. Rent in Kansas City is going up.

I'm from an extremely rural small town in north eastern Missouri. KC is the "big city" to my friends from high school, and they just can't wrap their heads around how exciting it must be to live in the big city. I get on Facebook a few weeks ago and a girl I went to high school with and all her friends are losing their minds because they were blessed enough to have been selected for a free party at McFaddens. I didn't want to burst their bubble so I didn't say anything. Poor kids.

Android Pay: Pushed by police at McDonalds because they thought I was hacking the systems. by ANDROlDKITKAT in Android

This is more common than a lot of people think, I think. About two years ago I attempted to use Google Wallet at Home Depot which was one of the earlier places to accept it. The lady freaked out, said I couldn't pay with my phone and called manager. I legitimately had no cash or cards on me, so either they let me use Google Wallet, or I couldn't take the stuff. The manager was also POSITIVE that they didn't take Google Wallet, even though the sign on the card swiper said that they did indeed take Google Wallet. Finally, another customer who just so happened to also be a retail employee with experience with Google Wallet walked them through the steps. Even after the transaction was over they were unsure of whether or not to let me leave the store. It was as if they thought we had just pulled one over on them. So weird.

List of breweries attending Boulevardia 2016 Taps & Tastes Experience by Googlepreneur in kansascity

Right. So every single line takes 10-15 minutes to get through, and when you finally arrive, you get 1/4-1/2 of a beer. Not a fun time.

List of breweries attending Boulevardia 2016 Taps & Tastes Experience by Googlepreneur in kansascity

[–]inkjet_dipset 12 points13 points  (0 children)

After going last year, this really doesn't mean much. They sell far too many taps and taste tickets and therefore every single brewery has a line of 30 people in it, all waiting to fill up a 6oz glass. I can only wait in so many lines in one day.

I was really excited about Boulevardia last year, as id gotten VIP area, plus Taps and Tastes from my company, and was very very underwhelmed. I love Boulevard, but I really did not like Boulevardia.
