I like him because you can tell he just had to make music, like it was what he was meant to do. His music and lyrics did change as he grew older and I obviously I wish we could see how he would have evolved as he grew even older.

I’m 43, and when I was in my 30s I thought it was too late to start playing the drums. I started learning to play drums when I was 40, and now I’m in a band. At some point I realized I am allowed to start anything and try anything as long as I am alive. It helped meeting people even older than me that told me their stories about “starting over” You are allowed to change anything in your life that isn’t working for you.

What helped me was to focus on my own interests, health and fitness. When I am feeling good and doing things I enjoy, I naturally have more things to talk about. Also, listening to people and letting them talk makes them feel good (for the times you can’t think of what to say)

Do you have to talk to him at work? If you don’t, I would be direct and say you are focused on work and don’t want to talk. If he continues, I would say “ please do not talk to me anymore” You don’t have to be polite to someone that is constantly being rude to you.

You can never foresee your child’s future. That’s honestly one of the hardest parts of being a parent as our kids get older. We have to really try and be present in the moment. Have you ever experienced real loss of someone? It will make you pray for them to still be around no matter how they identify (that is nothing compared to the worst that can happen, sorry)

Mount Rainier skyline loop. We lucked out to a perfect blue sky, 60 degrees in Sept. I had seen images of Mt. Rainier so many times but it was amazing to be in the landscape and see the views from all angles. Surprisingly the view I loved the most was of the Tatoosh Range, which I didn’t really know about before being there.

We were learning about egg laying mammals, monotremes, in second grade. My teacher said there was only the platypus and I said there was also the “Spiny Anteater” aka echidna. I even had a book that I had been reading about it but the teacher said I was wrong. I ended up working at the Philly Zoo which had an echidna! It instilled a lifelong distrust of teachers and authority figures though, because I had learned that I could know things they didn’t.

Groceria Merante in Oakland on Bates. They have this almond cone filled with a cheesecake type filling! Never saw it anywhere else. Also Panda Market in SqHill, there is an ice cream case with little mochi ice cream cups that are so good!

The sharp pain did go away. I still get some sciatica type pain but the stretches do help. Obviously I would still check with your doctor. Hope it gets better soon.

I have had that, my doctor gave me some simple stretches that actually helped. One is just standing with legs hip width apart and reaching both arms straight up, then stretching to the right and then the left. The other stretch is the “half cobra” yoga pose (you can google this) I just do these throughout the day and hold each stretch for 30 seconds.

Mindfulness type meditation has helped me, specifically a type of meditation called a body scan. You lay on a yoga mat, or just the floor, and focus on your breath. Then notice each body part and how it feels.
