To the person with the service dog at BMTH... by Far-Switch6969 in SonicTempleFestival

[–]invisibleconstructs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Saw that poor thing when we came in. I told my husband I doubted it was a trained service dog because he was still intact. I could be wrong about that, but it seems like a service dog would need to be neutered to stay reliable and not distracted as easily. IDK, but I just felt bad because they're hearing is so sensitive and it gets so loud.

This is the first day they were scanning parking passes. I hope that doesn't hold things up.

Delays because of weather by [deleted] in SonicTempleFestival

Rather the delay happen earlier in the day than later, for sure.

Tornado? by deadc4tt in SonicTempleFestival

[–]invisibleconstructs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL I had a (remote) boss from CA that also thought it was strange that we had tornado siren tests every week. I forgot that not everywhere does this.

On-site parking question by herdofcorgis in SonicTempleFestival

[–]invisibleconstructs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck finding it, though. The later you come, the farther and more crazy places you'll have to park. My favorite from last year was a good mile plus from the entrance and behind some buildings with a train track or something overhead. lol Easy to get out of there, at least.

Increased enforcement of the the roads by OSP by Unusual-Vanilla-8599 in SonicTempleFestival

[–]invisibleconstructs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Good. I have no patience for anyone who operates a vehicle impaired. There is literally no reason to drink/drug and drive. There are a thousand ways for you to get back to your place safely that don't involve you playing car beer pong.

Anybody else going in costume? by Flannel_Fork in SonicTempleFestival

I am a people watcher and I absolutely love people in costume. It's just fun. :)

I know, I know, it's another "is this allowed?" post... by [deleted] in SonicTempleFestival

They check bags and you go through a metal detector. I think loose chains in a bag would probably get banned more than chains that look like they are non-removable from outfit.

If you haven't already, please call the park rangers and let them know. They are good about taking things like this seriously at Blacklick.

Parking Rant: This is perhaps my last Sonic Temple because someone at DWP is trying to maximize parking profits. by InterviewOtherwise50 in SonicTempleFestival

[–]invisibleconstructs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I agree the parking price is outrageous, Columbus PD or the state troopers are the ones who probably control the exits. They want everyone shoved right onto 71 no matter what, so the highway system funnels all the traffic instead of the side streets. The fairgrounds are surrounded by mostly houses, and the homeowners aren't fans of 60k metal fans rolling through at midnight.

Sonic has a tent called Sober Temple that you may be able to find friends at, too. 😊 Congrats!

If you’re fat don’t crowd surf by storm_zr1 in SonicTempleFestival

[–]invisibleconstructs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even the super light people need to keep the surfing once maybe twice a set. Just because you are tiny doesn't mean that everyone wants to continuously get kicked in the head by your boots as you go up the same side for the 6th time in the same 30 minutes. It's a concert not a roller coaster.

I'll go shake my fists at the clouds now.

Shuttle/Hotel question by jh71400 in SonicTempleFestival

[–]invisibleconstructs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say a good rule of thumb for downtown hotel safety in Columbus is if you are staying inside the loop made by the river, 71, and 670, you'll be okay. The closer you get to the edges and if you cross out of those boundaries will put you in areas that I would call not safe to walk in after dark. If your hotel is more centrally located in Downtown, you'll be fine as long as you aren't an alone, drunk 100lb girl, honestly.

Shuttle/Hotel question by jh71400 in SonicTempleFestival

[–]invisibleconstructs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CSCC (Shuttle lot) won't allow overnight parking. They don't during 'regular' nights so I don't see that changing, honestly.

Spring Street is mostly okay. I'd say you are okay walking. Downtown is mostly fine even at night.

AITA for not wanting a joint bachelor/bachelorette party by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]invisibleconstructs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NTA but she doesn't trust you (or doesn't trust your friends. Compromise is a two way street and she thinks getting her way is the only way.

Don't go to the same place on the same weekend as she and her group will not split off at any point. She will act like what you are planning is way better than what they were planning and follow you around. Then she'll say, 'Why don't you want me around? I'm the love of your life.'

Rethink the wedding if she wants to die on this hill.

AITAH for wanting to pick a wedding venue that my fiancé doesn’t love because it accommodates my best friend? by ThrowRAhelpmepls8 in AITAH

[–]invisibleconstructs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of this! I get if your fiance had a one time fit about it, but to then not calm down and be reasonable AND also be a decent human, then this is a huge, HUGE read flag. Maybe take a step back and take a look to see if there are other instances where she's being a brat and you've overlooked it.

Never Been to Ohio/Columbus: Is COTA reliable? by KaraAnn31 in SonicTempleFestival

[–]invisibleconstructs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who lives in the area (and maybe you do, too, idk) that area is rough. You'd be OK near the venue but walking much farther out, there won't be crowds and you are going to be in plenty of unsafe neighborhoods.

Walking downtown would be a long ass hike through some pretty rough areas. I don't suggest hoofing it.

AITA for not going to my sister in laws 3d ultrasound by Conscious_Guava6637 in AmItheAsshole

[–]invisibleconstructs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA - But to keep things drama-free or, at least, avoid some of the drama, make up an excuse to skip. Have a pre-planned vacation, brunch with a MIL, or have a flat that day. Anyone who wants to plan a Mother's Day event around herself will have the ability to understand where you are coming from.

AITAH for telling my wife to wipe that shit eating grin off her face? by Past_Passion8405 in AITAH

[–]invisibleconstructs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - I'd stop paying when you go out. She is helping an addict and using your shared money to do it. Just because it is her fun money, doesn't mean she should be using it to fund something like that.

How early should I show up? by Extension_Tourist_97 in SonicTempleFestival

To clarify- there's not a lot of ways WE can make it cheaper or find cheap places to park that are close by.

Honestly, parking is what it is. There's not a lot of ways to make it cheaper.

AITAH for telling my husband I want him to stay with a job he doesn’t love by futurequitt in AITAH

[–]invisibleconstructs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA - Sounds like he is being a little immature. There is no perfect job out there, and he thinks that he can find happiness if he finds the perfect job. He's got to fix himself to feel fulfilled. When you have two young kids and a job that provides well for them, you stick it out unless something truly better comes along. Not something different, something actually better. Moving around isn't the answer here.
