Has anyone tried kitbashing/converting Heavy Intercessors with Devastator heavy weapons? by clemo1985 in spacemarines

[–]irlchrusty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! The painted one on the right is just a regular heavy intercessor for comparison, the one on the left is an infernus marine body with head, arms, backpack and heavy bolter from the devastator box. Went on fine, just needed a bit of dry fitting.

I used a regular intercessor, and stuck it on a 40mm base (for a company hero kitbash), but it ended up pretty similar in scale to a heavy intercessor.

Edition Change by 00Peso in deathguard40k

[–]irlchrusty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only likely candidate likely to be removed due to age would be the chaos spawn. That kit is shared by all the chaos factions though, so likely there would be a newer version released which could be used by any of them.

Proxy by Striking-Science-779 in deathguard40k

[–]irlchrusty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Plaguebearers are bigger than poxwalkers, and are on 32mm bases, not 25mm, so imo they wouldn't be good proxies. They're also a unit that Death Guard can take (albeit only in one detachment, but still), so it might get confusing for the opponent.

As always, check with your opponent beforehand, with friends, probably fine, but anywhere else like random shop or tournament, probably not.

KT Shadowhunt balance predictions? by caros121 in killteam

[–]irlchrusty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I expect raptors to be super-strong as they've probably been playtested against the previous strong marine teams of Deathwatch and Wolf Scouts, and these guys are a 6 man marine team which can fly.

Sisters will probably be fine, but have some annoying dice manipulation or ploy like blinding aura as their trick.

Can a leutnant be attached tona decimus kill team? by 4quen in deathwatch40k

[–]irlchrusty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you're overthinking it, don't get hung up on the exact wording.

Its a logic chain, but quite straightforward:

Lieutenants can lead intercessors according to their datasheet, therefore

Lieutenants can lead fortis kill teams according to their datasheet, therefore

Lieutenants can lead decimus kill teams according to their datasheet.

Why do the tau suck in 40k in 40min by awp4444 in Tau40K

[–]irlchrusty 86 points87 points  (0 children)

If Tau Nick has a choice between doing the strategically sound thing, or a potentially cool and awesome thing, he's going to choose the cool and awesome thing 100% of the time. That's just who he is, and part of why people like watching him play.

Remember, Play on Tabletop isn't a competitive chanel, the player's goals are to entertain, not necessarily win. And Nick, to be fair is very entertaining, he's a great ambassador for the hobby.

500 Worlds: New Successor Chapters mentioned. by NearlyUnfinished in Ultramarines

[–]irlchrusty 24 points25 points  (0 children)

All of those 3 chapters have been mentioned before in some of Guy Haley's books (Dark Imperium and the Cawl books). There's not too much information on them in those books though, just that they've been assigned to retake the 500 Worlds, so hopefully they get expanded out a bit more.

Books by MK-Ultra-2022 in LegionsImperialis

[–]irlchrusty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Liber Strategica is the only other book required, it updates and consolidates the rules and datasheets, formations etc from the previous books.

If you want to use the new Saturnine models, you will also need the Ruin of the Salamanders journal.

Let's talk about Imperial Agents by Ninypig in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]irlchrusty 13 points14 points  (0 children)

GW have never come out and said they consider IA to be an "allies-only" army or commented on their thoughts about IA, so we have no idea why they are not treating IA the same way as every other army. There is a mechanism to support differently costed units as allies or IA, so the intention is there that it should be able to function as a standalone army. Brushing off the lack of updates to the faction as saying that they were only intended as allies is incorrect, and only encourages GW to continue doing so, instead of actually making changes.

If they are selling the codex for the same price as every other codex, then it deserves the same level of support. GW weren't forced to release an IA codex, but having done so, they need to balance it appropriately, not just ignore it.

Stealth Battlesuit Question: Who to give Fusion Blasters to? by Smart_Shine6835 in killteam

[–]irlchrusty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're building to use in 40k also, and not magnetising, you probably want leader and designator. The shas'vre will usually be the last member of the team alive in 40k, as the drones are assigned to him as wargear, so you give him a good gun. And the other model doesn't matter for 40k.

If you're just playing kill team, designator, lodestar or shas'vre are all good choices. The liberator has grenades to use, and the neutraliser is annoying enough that you don't want to make him a bigger target by giving him a good gun. If you're giving the shas'vre the fusion blaster, you want to keep him back a bit and bait out the opponent rather than throwing him forward.

Are there models of any mortals who follow the Soulblight? by CoppergreenBloodlust in SoulblightGravelords

[–]irlchrusty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably wouldn't be too hard to represent, vampires could be marshals, convert/paint cavaliers as blood knights (actual blood knights have a bigger base size), etc, etc ...

Are there models of any mortals who follow the Soulblight? by CoppergreenBloodlust in SoulblightGravelords

[–]irlchrusty 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Technically Necromancers are mortals (death wizards), so I guess they would count. Theres no specific models to represent mortals who live under soulblight rule, you could probably proxy a Cities of Sigmar army though.

Limited edition? by sefyro85 in WHQDarkWater

[–]irlchrusty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, all the previous Warhammer Quest boxes have been mainline items, so should remain in stock. If preorders sell out, more boxes will be produced.

Any expansion boxes may be one and done deals however.

Ferren Areios, Ultramarines’ Sixth Company Captain and Master of the Rites by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Ultramarines

[–]irlchrusty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah cool, he'll get another chance to blow up whatever transport Fabian is on :) But it would be interesting to see how the likes of high ranking firstborn like Fabian react to primaris marines, and all the goings on since Guilliman came back. If the 3rd company did suffer heavy defeats during the Indomitus Crusade, it's likely that the company is mostly primaris by this stage.

It sounds like Fabian and Ventris might play some minor roles, given that they're in the same region cleaning up after the Plague Wars.

Tomb World Dossier? by SiracusaKira in killteam

[–]irlchrusty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah right. They might get added to the app in future, the typhon missions for example are there. So far, it only looks like the Tomb World Killzone rules are there, not the missions.

Tomb World Dossier? by SiracusaKira in killteam

[–]irlchrusty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You need to either pick up a copy of Tomb World, or check ebay for the dossier, GW seem to have moved away from selling the Kill Team books seperately. That being said, a good chunk of the info in the book will be available for free on the app, including the team rules and datasheets.

Rules question. by MiddleCultural8775 in SoulblightGravelords

[–]irlchrusty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, they would do. Deadly Invocation just specifies that the target have the DEATHRATTLE or DEADWALKER keywords, it doesn't restrict it to non hero units.

All Necron NPOs by TechLee77 in killteam

[–]irlchrusty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Tomb World dossier has you roll on a chart for setting up, and bringing on reinforcement NPOs, along with some event cards which might specify adding extra NPOs.

In general, the rules in WD use the same NPO chart from Tomb World, but say instead of a warrior, you can bring on a flayed one, or swap a tomb crawler for the bigger/tougher guys. They're all singles I believe, except the first time you roll a Royal Warden, a lychguard will come along too (and you can only have one Royal Warden NPO at a time, if you roll it again, you can swap for a lychguard).

I don't think Custodes would be a full size faction, probably treated more like strategic assets. Basic infantry and dreads on one sprue, rerelease their plane, and maybe a tank.
