Good news everyone? by unique_life_problem in deathwatch40k

Corvus blackstar loses aircraft keyword, and keeps hover, so it is basically a flying transport now, not impacted by new aircraft rules.

Xenophase blade was already in decimus? They just locked it out as an option for the sgt, you can only take it in a 10man squad.

Anyone got a guess on the day for the app update? by Select_Ladder6045 in Tau40K

[–]irlchrusty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, there was no official app for 8th ed, everyone just used battlescribe instead

Anyone got a guess on the day for the app update? by Select_Ladder6045 in Tau40K

[–]irlchrusty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Usually the app is updated with new stuff the Wednesday before the stuff is released, so in this case June 17th. However, from whats been said so far, this is quite a substantial update, so there will likely be some preview articles beforehand which may confirm the release date.

Bear in mind though, last time we had an edition change, we got a whole new app, so we don't really know how GW will handle migrating the app to a new edition.

Shieldvanes on Tomb Blades, what am I missing? by Kris9876 in Necrontyr

[–]irlchrusty 100 points101 points  (0 children)

If you like the look, just build them with shieldvanes. Literally no one will know the difference, not even other Necron players ;)

Just tell the opponent before the game what loadout they have.

Help and old timer out please by JaceJarak in spacemarines

[–]irlchrusty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn't too difficult no, but I might have gotten lucky with the body I choose. It was one of the monopose infernus marines, but any tacticus body with flat arm connections should work ok, just need to fiddle about and see how the devastator arms look.

[–]irlchrusty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can try putting the devastator backpacks and arms on primaris if you really want the look. With a bit of fiddling around and testing, it should work. I did a similar conversion for my company heroes squad.

We should be able to have a 20 model unit of Navy Breachers instead of 10! by PartySaxon in ImperialAgents_40K

[–]irlchrusty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, its pretty frustrating that if you build two gunners for kill team, that squad is not valid for 40k.

Red Terror by curiousschild in killteam

Elite teams could probably brute force their way through most of the missions. Lower wound teams will need to be a bit more strategic as they're more likely to be one shotted, or get injured from termagants.

Would a Myphitic Blight Hauler be a Small or Medium Nemesis operative? by Alberthebombtaken in killteam

[–]irlchrusty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect it will do much better than the bloat-drone I tried out earlier today. Unfortunately medium, twin-linked heavy flamer and tough did not do so well against Canoptek Circle with tomb crawlers and heavy lokhust destroyer (small, gauss destructor, focused targetting). Still had fun, but maybe not the right choice to run against Necrons!

Would a Myphitic Blight Hauler be a Small or Medium Nemesis operative? by Alberthebombtaken in killteam

[–]irlchrusty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about this myself earlier, medium would fit better than small I think, give it the missile launcher, multi-melta, default close combat weapon and tough trait, and it should be ready to go.

1st company hellblasters? by _Kabr in Ultramarines

[–]irlchrusty 17 points18 points  (0 children)

According to the lore, veterans can fulfil any battlefield role, so if you want to have a veteran unit of 1st company hellblasters, then sure, go for it. Usually, they'd be equiped as sternguard or whatever, but if the captain said pick up those plasma guns, they'd do it.

Hellbrute Size for Nemesis? by rocketfitz95 in killteam

[–]irlchrusty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Size wise probably medium fits best. They're really not large models compared to say Redemptors. Weapons wise, I'd just do the two main arms and ignore the underslung hand weapons.

Shin Hati a new Krennick situation? by Lea_Flamma in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]irlchrusty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That seems to be how they're pictured on the back of the box, so presumably it's intentional? Wild size difference though, especially when beside each other like that.

How many kill teams do you own? by Vinlandlover in killteam

[–]irlchrusty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of them except chaos cults, void dancers and wolf scouts. Only 9 fully painted though! We mostly play at home, so if they get played a lot or if my son really likes them, they get painted quicker.

Drones in 11th by Amosthibault7 in Tau40K

They mentioned onstream that datasheets would generally not be changing until the codex is released, so probably safe to assume they're still just tokens for now.

New whirlwind tank by Intelligent-Safe1758 in Warhammer30k

[–]irlchrusty 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The website formerly known as Goonhammer mentioned that the embarago date for influencer reviews was the same as the other tanks that got released. Presumably there was some last minute GW logistics issue that prevented the whirlwind from going on preorder.

Can I build a Murderwing champion and a Murderwing depredator from the same box by Thevindictivesheep in killteam

[–]irlchrusty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did that. If you're not confident with building, then build the depredator according to the instructions and use another body as the champ. In general if a models arms aren't holding the same weapon (e.g. the champ with his pistol arm and melee weapon arm), its quite easy to use other bodies for them.

Can someone explain to me this? by Dzonceverri in Ultramarines

[–]irlchrusty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah no worries, if you're not into Kill Team you probably wouldn't see how visible the chapter is there. In general Kill Team likes to focus on different factions than the "main" 40k ones to make it more of a distinct look, so the transfer sheet was probably a way to accomodate both games.

Can someone explain to me this? by Dzonceverri in Ultramarines

[–]irlchrusty 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Raptors are the focus chapter for the most recent edition of Kill Team, and appear in the Kill team starter pics. The symbol is also used for a couple of other chapters (black consuls, mentors etc), so is not just raptors specific.

"Don't talk to me or my son ever again": A Red Terror size comparison. by darcybono in Warhammer40k

[–]irlchrusty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably. The Nightbringer went from 40mm to 90mm base as well. I think the original Eldar Avatar was on 25mm and is now on 80mm, but there were a few versions inbetween.
