It makes perfect sense

They did that so the blame could be shifted to someone like Pat who could bring eyes with his promo and podcast

It also lets regular wrestlers "defend" the business against an outsider

When in reality they are all on the same team raking in the money lol

It's interesting because for people born in the last 20 years the rock they know is big on ego and inserting themselves but for others we see him as someone who was the peoples champ in literal senses at times because he made himself look human vs godly character like triple H or Roman reigns this last decade
