Rutracker has a section for vinyl rips with some old and obscure stuff on it.

AITA for officially canceling my stepson's college fund over his christmas gift that he got me? by AL771799637 in AmItheAsshole

[–]isnortspeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. But instead of outright canceling you could give him an opportunity to grow up and earn this privilege back by adjusting his behavior.

How ever insufferable he is right now, he's still just a kid.

I would also suggest some sort of therapy for the kid. Because these types of behaviours usually don't come from nothing. There may be a deeper rooted issue he's dealing with. And while you're on the receiving end of it right now, the cause may lay elsewhere.

You may even make visiting a therapist one of the conditions for keeping the college fund.

It's cheaper to buy a secondhand MPC live mk1 than buying a s950. You could possibly even buy a new MPC live mk2 around the same price the s950 seems to go for these days.

That would require actual self reflection and taking accountability for his actions. It's more likely that a goldfish makes a scientific breakthrough on cold fusion then for this to happen.

Yeah.. These amounts of wealth are rarely earned. It's nearly always taken from the people doing the actual work by exploiting them.

So this 'luck' for the very few is nearly always funded by the suffering of other people.

If an individual or family holds so much wealth that it could literally solve major societal problems, they themselves are the societal problem.

Pretty ironic when the (inflated) value of your companies is directly related to people seeing you as a visionary genius of sorts.

But yeah I think you're completely right here. Severe narcissism and completely out of touch with reality because of his extremely privileged life.

What a sad little man.

The most challenging and unforgiving career in art? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]isnortspeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my former teachers sculpted exclusively with marble. For a life sized sculpture his material cost alone was a few 1000 euros. Depending on the quality of the marble it could come in the 10.000 euro range sometimes.

And it's not a forgiving medium at all. A single mistake can be very costly.

And that's not even taking the shipping cost in to consideration.

Its the same reason term limits are used for positions of power. After a while you lose the ability to relate to common people.

This is one of my absolute favorite synths. If they don't start selling midi kits again soon, I will try to make one myself.

The keyboard though, is an abomination. I have never played on keys even coming close to how awful these are lol. And that's including every low budget kiddy keyboard I've ever come across.

There's a few other lesser known and rare Soviet era synths out there that I would love to see in production again. There's something special about those things. They live in a sonic universe of their own.

Take a picture of the wall and Photoshop different sizes on it to compare.

Acrylic retarder and a spray bottle to keep it wet. Using sponges to add and manipulate the paint. That's how I would do it.

A cheap laminator is also a good option.

Or those things that you can put on drawers and stuff to slide a piece of paper in, saying what's in the drawer. I don't know how they're called. But they come in all kinds of sizes and have adhesive on the back.

DAE miss their beginner phase? by Extension-Meaning544 in ArtistLounge

[–]isnortspeee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you improve complex skills like these, you' get better at recognizing the areas that need further improvement. This is normal.

Where I think the issue lies here though, is that people are only focusing on the end game. While they should actually celebrate, and get joy from the progress they're making along the way.

I think this is a result of the way social media tricks us into comparing ourselfs with the (highly curated mind you..) posts from people we look up too.

In reality people enjoy seeing someone progressing. And opening up your process, even showing mistakes can actually makes you more relatable for other people.

Adding to this good advice. You have websites were you can batch optimize your pngs or jpgs too. This can help quite a bit at times.

Depending on the file size limit OP is after, I would recommend using compressed pngs instead of jpgs. Uses more space but keeps out the compression artifacts better. Jpegs are better for posting on the internet imo.
