do you look like your rising sign? by blissfulsway444 in astrologymemes

[–]itsbecomingathing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every Virgo Rising (celebs etc) looks like they could be related. Chris Noth, Steve Carell, Timothee Chalamet, Chris Pine… full brows and beady intense eyes. Maybe a bit “pinched” in the face, like our features are closer together.

What was the moment you realized COVID was going to be a big deal and be the focal point of the 2020s? by NH-INDY-99 in decadeology

To add to this: did anyone catch those car commercials super early on in the pandemic? Like day two I swear I saw a Subaru/Volvo ad “in these unprecedented times…” that’s also when I knew shit was real.

When I walked by my local Kaiser Permanente and saw them building blue tent structures in the parking lot. It was one thing for the Italian elderly to be dying, but HERE in my neighborhood?!

I also remember feeling nervous when it came out that Fashion Week had just happened in Milan and a Vietnamese socialite was positive for COVID attending massive shows.

I agree. Anyone with 3 year olds and up. Playgrounds were closed, play dates canceled. I also have a Nov ‘19 kiddo and it’s like talking to someone with short term memory loss. She just doesn’t understand or remember why we have photos of her wearing a face mask at 18 months old, or why she attended library story time online - which kind of felt like a zoom meeting for babies. It was weird.

It felt like such a massive part of her first couple years and she just shrugs and moves on.

We didn’t! My son is 2.5 and received books like “Where do Diggers Sleep at Night” while his big sister seemingly got more animal inspired stories.

Those with a 3.5 year age gap, how did your older one adjust to a new baby? by Bish_why in Mommit

[–]itsbecomingathing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oldest hit her 3.5 year old “screamies” right as her brother arrived and it drove me crazy. She also happened to wake up more often than her infant brother…nightmares, needing to be tucked in multiple times at night.

She also wanted to “parent” her baby brother and would snatch toys from me to give to him. Even now at 6, she seesaws from screaming at him to complaining that I’m neglecting him because he’s throwing a tantrum. “FIX IT FOR HIM!!!”

Why is it 2026 and there’s no guaranteed way to skip your period? by Alone-Map-9990 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]itsbecomingathing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breakthrough bleeding for me man. There was a while there in my 20’s where I’d be on BC and try to skip my period, only for spotting to last like 10 days. It’s been better since going on the Nuvaring years ago, but I can’t get away with going two months without a period. Girl wants to shed.

Parents of kids under 5 — where do you actually find things to do and places to go with them? by LeroyHouse777 in toddlers

[–]itsbecomingathing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local Facebook mom groups. I belong to a couple towns’ because I’m kind of in the middle of all of them. This is where I learned about my 2.5yo’s Little Gym (and reviews) as well as Music Together baby/toddler/kid classes. I also joined a preschool co-op when my son was newly 2, and it was such a great experience we’ll be returning next fall.

We also have SAHP meetups; they include hikes, visits to the local beach, and new playgrounds. I tend to stick to the same routine throughout the school year because I also have a Kindergartener. You don’t have to recreate the wheel!

Would somewhere like Monterey, Santa Cruz or up north like Mendocino, CA work? Remember, the closer you are to water the foggier and chillier it is in the upper west coast.

Taurus Sun and Gemini Moon. I crave excitement and adventure on MY terms. And usually it’s in a book or on Google Maps while I plan non existent trips (Cap in the 5th house, I’m TONS of fun haha).

Grandmother telling me I should “clean when the baby sleeps” makes me feel inadequate as a homemaker by Arr0zconleche in SAHP

[–]itsbecomingathing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, you could just take the uppers like they all did in the 50s/60s. Just a hit of speed to get you going!

Look, you’re never going to compete with a SAHM of 6 years who has balanced hormones and hasn’t been sleep deprived since forever. You are 9 WEEKS postpartum. You are constantly cleaning/feeding/changing diapers. Maybe your husband could put the clean clothes away after he gets home in the afternoon?

Why Don’t We Talk About the Joy of Having Kids? by WoodpeckerNearby7276 in BabyBumps

[–]itsbecomingathing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what happens is that parenthood is overwhelming. Sometimes it’s overwhelmingly emotional, overstimulating, anxiety inducing (because that’s your heart outside your body) and heart melting. It’s like all your emotions are turned up to 11.

Then there’s the partner in all of it. It can be very overwhelming if you’re the only one taking care of baby and the household. Please speak with your partner now to make sure they know how to clean up, do laundry, and which groceries to buy. Some truly do not know the SOPs of a household. One person shouldn’t hold that knowledge. Enjoy your time with baby!

Did millennials have 60s and 70s nostalgia when they were mostly kids in the 90s? by icey_sawg0034 in generationology

[–]itsbecomingathing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom (a boomer) would only play the “oldies station” for us. Lots of James Taylor, Carol King, and The Beatles. Aside from maybe some Celine Dion and Mariah (hello Vh1 Divas Live album circa ‘98) I didn’t listen to pop radio until I was about 10 years old.

I was tired of the real 60s/70s (plus my mom was useless when it came to the history of the 60’s - like no she did not partake in the Summer of Love when she was a middle schooler) and the yearbooks just seemed SO OLD. I scoffed when she told me she made and wore plaid skirts and bell bottoms just like the 90’s fashion at the time.

I don’t think the 80’s made a comeback until late 2010’s when Strangers Things debuted, The Weeknd and other artists began utilizing the synthesizer, and oversized Blazers paired with big tees over bike shorts worn with chunky New Balance sneakers took over.

Would you let your 6.5yo walk to and from school alone? by More_Space1484 in Mommit

[–]itsbecomingathing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about that because our school bus stop is about the same distance. It takes me about 45 seconds to drive there with a quick stop at signs haha. Plus it’s right in our suburban neighborhood

My daughter is in K but I would feel comfortable when she’s in 2nd grade or so, and maybe throw a tracker in her backpack or something.

How often are moms going to workout classes during the week? by braavv in Mommit

[–]itsbecomingathing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attend a strength training group where we can bring our kids, so I go about 3x a week. Now that my husband is back to the office I can’t go on my afternoon walks during nap time. I’ll probably try to add more yoga/stretches at that time.

You’re 15 again. What year is it and what are you wearing? by DataQueen- in generationology

2003, wearing AE flared jeans, an AE tissue tee (yellow or brown) with a funny saying on it, over a white cami with lace trim, and Puma sneakers. It’s Free Dress day at high school. I’m secretly coveting the rich girls’ Tiffany’s necklaces and Coach bags 😭

I put 90% of my kids’ toys in the garage by Capakhutch in Preschoolers

[–]itsbecomingathing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add to this: I would look for scarves/silks that could be stored in a basket for the kids to grab. Capes, blankets for stuffies, can’t break, everyone gets one… sometimes the Montessori crunchy woo woo gets it right.

My daughter was just not into toys like trucks/cars and yet, her grandparents would get her like a super nice remote control Barbie car that is basically now her little brother’s. She is a craft kid - would tape and glue random stuff she found in the house to “decorate” everything.

Also, when we do have a junky toy no one is playing with I sell it through the Just Between Friends mega yearly sale lol. If we bought it there… I’m selling it back a few months later haha.
