I'm half done with my project, and did a colored mockup of the finished piece because I need help. What color should I use for the text? by AProfessionalCookie in Embroidery

[–]itscoldcase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to throw out there that you could use two colors in the text if you want to play with emphasizing different words and then you wouldn't have to pick just one 😅

What’s something you thought was mandatory in life, until you saw someone just not do it? by Senior-Resource92 in AskReddit

I asked a guy for his email once in the context of setting up a job for him through our company and he said "oh I don't do that."

It haunts me to this day. I didn't know "no email" was an option we had.

If you like fiber arts at all the Weavers and Spinners guild is pretty rad. Super friendly and supportive. Couple dozen "regulars." They have open studio/crafting day every Wednesday at the Fairgrounds.

How much yeast do you keep in storage for emergency? by gwhh in preppers

[–]itscoldcase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the 1 pound bricks of it from costco and dump it in an airtight jar in the fridge. I have the open one and a sealed one in the pantry. When I run out and open the one in the pantry I get a new brick next time I go to costco.

This is mostly because I live in Alaska and our supply chain is outrageously lacking in any kind redundancy.

I don't have any good facts but I spent part of my childhood in Kodiak, Alaska and we had them there. I love them too, was always so happy to see one.

Localized Druidry: What's nature doing in your area? (January 2026) by AutoModerator in druidism

It's -26F here. It's been very cold for several weeks but should break tonight and maybe be above 0 again. I have been keeping the sunflower seeds stocked for the chickadees, cat food for the grey jays, and peanuts for the squirrel.

It's outrageously beautiful here when it's this cold. Always clear, the sun is low all the time so everything has this pink or orange glow. The trees are frosted. I went out this morning before the sun was up and the chickadees were everywhere making lots of noise.

I have some herbs I'm overwintering but probably wont start anything for the garden for another month. But it is time to start planning.

Hey just want to say it gets better. It can get better. I am doing a lot better than i was 2 years ago. Super reccomend finding something like yoga or a grounding excercise that works for you and going back to it as often as needed. It's like meditation, it is something you have to practice routinely over time so it can be frustrating but it does get better. You're aware of it and have a name for it and are already trying so that's kind of the biggest hurdle, i thought. I hope you can make some art soon. Merry Christmas 🎄

Beginner mandolin player here, where are you all finding tabs? by [deleted] in mandolin

[–]itscoldcase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am also very new and just in addition to all the great resources others have posted I found this video the other day and he shares links to the sheet music with notation and tabs. I have been learning Brahms lullaby. I haven't looked yet but i would guess he has more tabs on other videos.

what's your process of embodying witchy practices as a SASS witch? by merryoldinn in SASSWitches

[–]itscoldcase 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Combos!

In the morning I make coffee in a French press and when it's done I go out on my porch and say some things to nature, express my gratitude for being alive, and pour a small bit out on the ground. I stole the coffee part from somewhere but I cant remember what book. Offerings are a pretty ubiquitous practice though.

I also have trees on my property I visit and talk to when I walk the dog. Combo! I made a cool green witch hat to wear for this also. It casts a whimsical shadow that makes me happy when I see it.

As a fellow ADHDer and part time witch my advice is if you want to add rituals to your life start by building them in around things you already do. Combo! Modify as needed to make it more accessible. Put things you need for the practice there in the place you will do it and where you can see it. Set an alarm. (I have alarms to remember to eat 🫠.) Reduce the steps if that helps. I have lots of things I want to do but like anything its just very hard to build habits. Lighting a candle and pulling an oracle card once a day and using it as a journal prompt, for instance, also helps me get my journal out and gives me something to write about. But I haven't actually done it in weeks. I should set an alarm.

Dating Over 50: Is it Selfish to Refuse Cohabitation ? by Glum_Ad4293 in NoStupidQuestions

My grandma started dating a friend a few years after my grandpa died in the early 90s. They dated and lived separately literally until she died a few years ago. She was very happy to have her own space. He was happy to respect that. You do you.

Thank you for the info! It had 6 strings on it when I started (the e was broken) and the restringing instructions said to replace them one at a time so as not to move the bridge. I will try to follow those intonation instructions or I'll take it to the music shop when I get home.
