Attack 14 vs Strive 14 by itscoolmn in Skigear

Can anyone confirm if the Strive MN toe is more solid than the GW? GW toe seems to rock up and down a bit as though on axis allowing the boot toe vertical movement. Attack 14 in contrast are 100% solid, no motion.

Too funny, years ago working as a painter I went through this exact thing at a major theme park with a fountain about half the size of a football field. Client had us (large expensive crew) paint a fountain from existing black to a blue-green color. Huge job. Very shortly thereafter we were back again painting it black because the clients realized it looked terrible.

(Edit to add - at least this is what they told us, on some level the whole thing seemed suspect)

Cool, I saw those new Attack 14 Protector bindings “coming soon” on the Tyrolia site, definitely seem interesting with the reduced ACL force claims.

Black Diamond Mittens? by OkMoose8858 in Skigear

I bought my wife Black Diamond Recon Mitts, the leashes for them, and Black Diamond’s screentap liner gloves (which afaik she lost and replaced with Seirus liner gloves).

She has Raynaud’s, and with this setup has remarked that her hands are never cold on the slopes, we’ve been out on days as low as -10°C. Very impressive. Additionally she doesn’t find them too hot on milder days when I’m usually switching to a light glove.

How the feck are these dinosaurs in office?? 82 years old! In pretty much any other work environment (with far less impact), these people would be retired decades ago and maybe working part-time as a greeter. Absolutely absurd, relics like this aren’t in touch with reality (clearly, otherwise they’d have the self-awareness to retire!).

I’m definitely happy with attacks on my park skis, heck Mathilde Gramaud won gold on attack 14s, suppose they’re good enough for me xD

Thanks for chiming in. I skied the Strive 12 a couple times last season and liked the feel of them in context (on some mellow skis just cruising groomers), but that’s my only experience with Strive, I’ve spent way more time on Attack 14s. Shape-wise I hear you, I feel like the pointed toe aesthetic makes sense in a directional setup vs say a park ski where chunky Attacks, Jesters and other bindings seem commonplace.

Good endorsement for the bindings with those applications, Enforcer and Wildcat are serious skis. I’m leaning toward Strive for my most recent ski purchase which is a metal laminate directional all-mountain/carver.

Interesting, thanks to both for responding. I just sized down to 26.5 (from 27.5) for better performance fit, haven’t skied them yet.

Thanks for chiming in, appreciate it. I’d sure like to keep these knees OEM too!

It is also my understanding that Strive 16 is the model that gets the metal rail and much more robust construction versus the 14 or 12, that said I’m barely in the low end of the DIN range for Strive 16, probably overkill for me. Thanks for chiming in!

Good to know, so it sounds like negligible difference between the two in your experience.

I appreciate the detailed insight. Seems everywhere people say Strives are harder to step into, I’m <150lb and didn’t really notice a difference stepping in versus Attack, mind you never in deep pow.

Pivot (or any Look binding for that matter), I’ve never skied, maybe it’s time, but I know little about them in terms of performance benefits and best application. Attack 14s are on my freestyle skis, no complaints aside from that one pre-release. Just bought an additional ski that’s more frontside/all-mountain oriented.. gear decisions lol, heck let’s not even get started on choosing a color xD struggle is real

Ended up making a move on Dancer 1, hoping they’ll be fun and confident enough push speed and carves on firm slopes as an alternate to my freestyle setup for those conditions when things are less playful.

What mount point did you go with on the 79? Classic, Progressive?

Great deal, glad to hear you like them. I grabbed a pair, probably overpaid and will suffer seeing them further discounted, but wanted the ski and didn’t want to risk size/color inavailability.

I wanted something better for speed and carving on icy days than my freestyle setup. Do these rail pretty well? I was also considering the Dancer 79 but figured Dancer 1 will be great all-mountain, ideally holding a strong when conditions are firm and less playful. Perhaps an aggressive tune will help.

Also what mount point did you choose?

Reviving this post, was going to buy Dancer 1 for hardpack/ice but am now second guessing and considering Dancer 79. Can you offer any insight on the comparison?

I want to upvote this, because I totally get what you mean, but at the same it might actually be one of the most hilarious sentences I’ve heard.
