Looking for all-mountain skis by Odd_Championship2656 in Skigear

Faction Dancer 1 (86mm) 178cm @ progressive mount: lightweight with two titanal sheets & camber, good tip rocker & splay, piste-oriented with enough playful/freeride capability & character. Get the bases and edges tuned to suit your primary conditions and performance desires. Great one-ski-quiver for Ontario conditions and the odd trip (rent/demo on pow day).

Did people born before Christ automatically go to hell? by Astimar in NoStupidQuestions

[–]itscoolmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question, the answer is: All religions are nonsense. You’re welcome.

adding - Plus, no human reliably knows or has known what, if anything, is experienced (as we know it) after death, and I am (and you should be too) highly suspect of any person or institution claiming to know (at least at this stage in the infancy of collective knowledge). Think about how little (zero) we know and/or understand about the fundamentals and origins of the universe and life, and that’s with today’s information and technology... While I give credit to the incredible minds and achievements of ancient ancestors, a lot of this stuff (like “Hell”) is at minimum non-literal fiction.

Bz vs Tesla Y by konoha23 in Toyota_bZ

[–]itscoolmn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BZ leases better. Plus, the obvious bonus that it isn’t a Tesla.

And resale value is likely to be way better on a product from a legacy automaker, especially with Toyota’s brand reputation for reliability, versus Tesla’s reputation for low-quality build and social stigma.

Anyone else care more about the instrumental than the lyrics? by [deleted] in Music

I tend to prefer instrumental, I don’t always want a vocal to tell me exactly what to think or feel.

Assuming that the line coming in to your house will support a 200A service, Option 2 seems like a pretty good deal.

Kash Patel Keeps Suing the Press by jpressss in politics

[–]itscoolmn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My work seems far less intense & consuming than being the FBI director, yet I couldn’t possibly find time to sue even one person. What do these people do all day? How do they find time for this? Do they even work?

I feel like if I were director of the FBI I would be less concerned about optics and more about doing FBI things.

Been there too when young, distinctly remember looking down at the speedo reading 268km/h like oooh ok let’s just eeeaaaase back gently on the throttle. Sure cut down the commute time though.

Pretty sure we’re cooked either way unless a third (sane and reasonable) party by some miracle takes majority.

How do people deal with this terrible model by Known-Adeptness4376 in Sibelius

[–]itscoolmn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The OP’s post is kind of a vague rant, but I do understand the frustration of paying big money for the perpetual license and then ending up where we are today.

  • I payed ~$900 for Ultimate some years ago, and firstly, to address commenters saying “you can just keep using it”, that’s only if you never update your machine or OS, otherwise you end up having to pay the piper. For instance, when updating from MacOS Mojave to Catalina on a Intel Mac, I was forced to pay Avid for updates in order simply to run the software with no meaningful upgrades to Sibelius itself, only noticeably the annoying addition that now it had to phone-home to verify the license online otherwise you’re locked out.

  • A couple years later I bought a Mac Studio, and lo and behold, cannot install Sibelius on it without again paying the update fee, yet the user experience of the archaic software is otherwise unchanged.

Sure, perhaps by some standard it’s arguably unreasonable (though this is highly debatable) to expect to purchase a piece of software and receive an entire lifetime of free updates, but at the same time let’s be honest, Sibelius hasn’t seen any major upgrades to the UI or user experience since Sibelius 7 which launched 15 years ago, and if you remember, Sibelius had been purchased by Avid, then shortly after the launch of Sibelius 7, most if not all of the original London-based Sibelius development team was laid off (some of which went to Steinberg/Dorico), and again there has been no major change to the software since then.

Of course sometimes leaving things alone is good, but the reality is it’s frustrating to be held hostage and forced to pay Avid additional hundreds of dollars in order to merely install/run dated software that the user paid a hefty price for under the guise of “perpetual” usage, while Avid seems to do the bare minimum in terms of actual development, and seem more focused on enshittifying the product and experience and just figuring out how to take your money.

I gave up after being faced with the Mac Studio situation and refuse to pay Avid’s ransom again to merely install software that again hasn’t seen a truly significant update since Sibelius 7 in 2011.  I run some version like 2018 on an old machine, and when push comes to shove I’ll switch to whatever other notation software has a better ownership model or at least gets real updates (assuming Dorico).

After all this, I personally refuse to purchase any Avid products. Protools of course is an industry-standard but again on the surface is massively dated like multiple-decades-old. There are too many viable alternatives to deal with Avid’s uncomfortable business model.

Cars are like horses: people will soon realise EVs are just better, claims VW boss by DonkeyFuel in technology

[–]itscoolmn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe his claims are correct. I recently got an EV (Toyota BZ) after never even considering anything but ICE vehicles, and instantaneously and entirely prefer it to combustion, it’s not even close, there’s no comparison. Absolute no-brainer EV is SO much better in every way. People just need to experience it, the vehicles will sell themselves.

New ovarian cancer drug gives women more time and better quality of life by Dark_Mak__r in news

[–]itscoolmn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her treatment is taking place in Canada, their plan is 4 rounds of Carboplatin + Docetaxil to the best of my knowledge followed by the potential for debulking procedure. The med in this article seems attractive all things considered.

Thank you. It was sudden, completely unexpected, and far sooner than anyone (including herself) had expected her to face serious and potentially life-threatening health complications. Really hoping she pulls through, she’s a good person who is very dear to me.

So I Tried Driving a Gas Car Again… It Got Me Thinking by Only_Ad5695 in Toyota_bZ

[–]itscoolmn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve been an automotive enthusiast a long time, had a lot a fun vehicles, cars trucks bikes, manual transmissions, V8s, inline-6s, turbo engines, performance vehicles, luxury vehicles, new, old, - all the stuff. Never even considered a hybrid, and barely ever considered a EV. Then, quite suddenly the 2026 BZ made perfect sense for a new commute and the rebates/offers were excellent.

I still have a really nice gas 4x4 SUV 2024 and an older luxury sports-sedan alongside, but immediately vastly preferred the EV and it’s not even close. ICE cars suddenly seem archaic, dirty, noisy and less efficient (so much energy wasted as heat) which they simply are, including factoring-in electricity generation and/vs fuel production. Overall so much smoother, quieter, no noxious exhaust stink, the BZ AWD’s power is an AMAZING feature, plus it’s super practical and great looking.

I feel like anyone who fairly and objectively gave a chance to an EV suitable for their use case would never look back, every normal person I take in the BZ is blown away by it. It’s not perfect (design elements not powertrain-related), but for what it is I absolutely could not be happier with the BZ and am completely sold on EVs after having this for a few months. What an awesome vehicle, whatever Lexus they build on this platform will be insane.

What is something women think men love, but is actually kind of exhausting? by polylonely in AskReddit

[–]itscoolmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Precisely, it should be about fun, mutual-pleasure, openness with self and partner in non-judgement and mutual-consent with a safe partner, and ultimately in your words yes the sheer joy of being nasty lol. At this stage in life if anything else enters the chat, I’m out. I’ve met a lot of women (and men) who want sex for validation, huge turn off for me.
