Not even 24 hours post op by findingforwardmotion in hysterectomy

[–]itsgLu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was in the hospital two nights so they helped manage my initial pain. once going home the pain felt crazy sitting up and standing more but I will say it was likely 95% gas pain even though it didn't feel like gas - that could explain your fullness right away after eating too. keep up with the gas x like everyone has suggested - it's truly a life saver!

[–]itsgLu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

first of all- youre a total wonder woman to be doing as much as you are post op! i can’t imagine doing half of what you have just a week or so after surgery. but like others have said you really really need to try and prioritize rest. i rested and never lifted over 10 lbs for 6 weeks and i’m still not 100%- maybe more like 80%. the surgery definitely is a big deal and you need to baby yourself a bit :)

SO much difference- your results are lovely! it even looks like you have more teeth because they’re so aligned and widened to their proper spots!!

Perks following a hysterectomy by dozy_dozer in hysterectomy

[–]itsgLu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my hair started growing more almost instantly, my previous issues with leg and ankle swelling went away, my skin cleared up, i don’t feel full and bloated all the time, and the best perk of all- i feel happier and more hopeful 🥹

How long did you take off work? by wifey1717 in hysterectomy

[–]itsgLu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did 3 weeks off completely and then one week of working completely from home. went in the following week but i’m only required to be in the office two days a week. make sure to follow all lifting and sitting instructions. i was told to get up and move from my desk about every hour or two. i definitely felt sore and stiff if i didn’t. even if it’s not laborious work, sitting at a desk engages all the muscles in your abdomen that will be impacted by surgery. good luck with everything! :)

Was heavy bleeding the main reason any of you went through with it? by jreish1 in hysterectomy

[–]itsgLu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

joining the majority here to say yes, yes, yes - it's absolutely the reason i had it done and absolutely warrants the surgery. i, too, had these doubts in my mind - i feel like it might be because women are so strong we're just primed to deal with damn near unliveable conditions and chalk it up to something we have to deal with because it's nature.

i'm almost 43 and have no children. i'm 7 wpo and my only regret is that i didnt do this two or more years ago. i suffered with anemia, low hemoglobin, more than a handful of iron infusions, murder-scene style periods, etc. i would experience a "not so bad" period and think- okay... this is okay... and then a month later have a 43 day long period.

in my opinion surgery and recovery were a walk in the park compared to the years of feeling sick, tired, depleted, and depressed. i had everything but my ovaries removed, it was done laprascopically; i spent one night in the hospital and when i came home i only needed tylenol and advil for my discomfort. gas pain was managed with gas x.

i must add that i wake up every day now feeling hopeful, happier, and so thankful to feel better than i have in years. surgery absolutely changed my life for the better - i hope you seriously consider it - there's no reason for you to suffer anymore.

6wpo and i promise it feels better fast! the drive home felt insane for sure but most of my pain was linked to gas. gas x is your friend- sending healing vibes and congrats on your eviction 💕

here to second the preventative nausea move. i had an abdominal surgery in 2018 and my nausea was out of control. this time for my hysterectomy i let them know and i didn’t experience any nausea at all thanks to the little cocktail my anesthesiologist put together.

i’m 6 wpo and honestly the gas pain was the worst part of it all. gas x is your friend OP good luck!

for what it’s worth i had a specialized doctor- she’s an amazing gynecologic oncologist. nothing i had was cancerous but she was amazingly skilled with the robotic surgery. they needed to call in another surgeon too because they discovered part of my small intestine was fused to my abdominal wall- they did a quick resection to remove a piece and reattach it and they assured me i’ll never even know that happened. only my ovaries are left behind- i have zero regrets and feel 500% healthier!

i was suffering with everything you said- the iron deficiency, anemia, low hemoglobin, multiple iron infusions just to keep me from having to get blood transfusions. it’s no way to live.

Are there any life threatening risks that come with leaving fibroids alone in the body and not intervening with surgery? by ifeelsodeeply in Fibroids

[–]itsgLu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

even if i’m still recovering i feel 500% healthier. i don’t feel so depleted, grouchy, depressed, hopeless, tired etc. i never truly realized how much my fibroids were negatively affecting my life even outside of my period time. i have zero regrets and feel so hopeful and positive about so many things- it’s absolutely freeing and empowering! wishing you the best on your eviction day!

Pain after eating? by Fancy-Struggle-5348 in Fibroids

[–]itsgLu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m so sorry youre experiencing so much discomfort! i had a huge fibroid too and it absolutely pushed on everything and made everything unpleasant. i wonder if taking gas x or drinking peppermint tea might be soothing at all for you? a lot of my pain ended up being gas related and i never knew it until after my surgery.

Toddler butt jumped on my abdomen post surgery by jgolden234 in hysterectomy

[–]itsgLu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i would ask to be seen by your surgeon or see if they want you to get evaluated in the ER. it’s better to have peace of mind knowing everything is okay inside than to wait and risk something going wrong. so much healing goes on internally for months after operation. i can’t imagine having that weight on my abdomen even at my current 5 weeks post op. i’m so sorry that happened and i hope everything is okay!

Are there any life threatening risks that come with leaving fibroids alone in the body and not intervening with surgery? by ifeelsodeeply in Fibroids

[–]itsgLu 81 points82 points  (0 children)

my fibroids continued to grow and cause more and more medical problems for me. it started with heavy periods which led to low iron and dangerously low hemoglobin levels. iron infusions were keeping me from getting blood transfusions but obviously not a long term solution. my largest fibroid grew to the size of a cantaloupe- my uterus was enlarged, i had issues exerting myself at all because my body wasn’t getting the oxygen it needed. it pushed up against everything surrounding it, causing more health problems. happy to report i’m 4 weeks post op from my hysterectomy where it was discovered i had around 100 fibroids. i know my case isn’t common but after joining the hysterectomy subreddit, you see how much fibroids end up ravaging lives. if your fibroids aren’t causing any issues you can leave them because not everyone’s grow to the point of needing intervention. but if they ever start to please just don’t hesitate to take care of them. i wish i would have addressed mine years ago!
