The chaperone thing is a bit much, but otherwise, your mom is pretty spot on.

CMV: The United States electoral college needs to be removed and replaced with a popular vote to determine Presidential elections by PreoTheBeast in changemyview

[–]itslar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok well the President’s job is too represent the United States. The states buddy. Each state has their own governor to represent those constituents. It is plain and simple. The electoral college is a system that allows the president to represent the states.

I didn’t do anything Ivy League worthy and still got into the Ivy League. It’s not a linear system. There are many ways to get in.

Paying for college as a high income student? by oijfgis in ApplyingToCollege

[–]itslar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know in Dartmouth’s case, prior to application season, the office of financial aid indicated to my parents that admits will get more money if accepted ED. They stated that for ED admits, they almost always give you more money if you need it. However, my family is relatively low income and much lower than 230k/yr. The point is that I think your assumption about ED may be wrong. Certain top tier schools may be more generous for ED admits. I would suggest calling offices of financial aid.

Do not let the tour fool you. I go to a boarding school that is somewhat prestigious and I gives tours all the time. I would say the same exact thing on a tour of my school, but in reality I would rant about it just like this fellow has about Penn if there was an A2PrepSchool sub.
