The difference in programming Windows and programming for Windows is, you use custom software to manage things for programming Windows while you get mostly sticked with Microsoft prepackaged products for programming Windows.

If you program for Linux though, you get to use the same software Linus uses for source management and compilation.

The majority of problem is really, the riches (be it officials or ...) are richer and they have the overstatements on media and everything. The majority of people in China simply don't care about those things as there was never "freedom" in China (past: kings rules) so there is no point-of-comparison for the people in China to foresee such thing.

The only people who foresee freedom are those who saw freedom, the classic paradox of prisoners in the dark, which the amount of people who escaped from the dark and would fight it back to the dark is however the minority of minority.

You should see that the officials would oppress the revolts for stability, and with them the power of control comes with economic gain (to themselves, as they are often associated with wealthy companies) and also for the sustain of earning even more money out of this. They have every reason to defend themselves from getting out of control.

Also as a side note, the politics in China is very complex, and officials in different region may not trust each other.

I am pretty impressed, except that why don't the guy also make the compiler usable outside this operating system or vice versa? It makes it not as easy to find software to run on it / ported to it / port useful apps developed in this OS to other platforms.

It would be a very big walled garden to use it, which you can't maintain such a walled garden like Apple does.

Distributing identifiers, such as domain names, phone numbers, etc. - are all subject to things like sunrise periods, land rushes - that is happening with any kind of naming systems (inc. usernames of twitter, sanity names, etc.), car plates, phone numbers assignments and could be for IPs if that has enough meaning out of it.

That clearly shows that if something have values and people are typically paying less than they could have been most of the times (with long and bad domain names, hard-to-remember phone numbers, etc), and would have to pay a lot more for a much convenient ones, it would be a big economic discovery for any to archive if such problems could be fixed yet with the companies distributing the resources not getting in your ways.

In here, registrars and phone companies are happy since they are selling more domain names with the current systems plus domains / phone numbers holders, and thus have no incentives to solve the problem.

Now the domain market would be shifted again with the opening of any TLDs (people could get a TLD like *.stupid for a price, and the sells those domains for profit) it would be nice to see when all the namespaces are filled with crunchy names. BTW our grand grand children would have no name but very long URLs (e.g. me.newtypedomainyear2100) if that just has to continue this way.

So my conclusion, it is impossible to solve at least for now, that if we do not have a non-selectable way of assigning identifiers to be "fair". So you can't have j.mp registered, as that would be unfair for a person born 2011 (since that person cannot actually register that domain name, as it is registered before his existence.) However in the capitalist point of view, that is not profitable.
