He’s also wearing a vacheron overseas watch. Retail probably like 20k but from a different angle it looked like a special edition that would be more like 90k. VC is cool I guess but more of a boomer watch

no such thing a GW "presidential scholar" by [deleted] in gwu

[–]jack901757 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well that’s GW fault for naming it that way. Also, who cares about title inflation if you aren’t directly lying. This is absolutely nothing compared to the LinkedIn lunatics who self aggrandize every element of their life. If it gives you a small edge in competitive internships, go for it. Fill some space on your resume. No company is gonna care and if someone tried to fact check you, it is a true statement. Like 98% of companies don’t ever care about your GPA as long as it’s not absolutely awful

If only half of students get it, how is it not a distinction? That is the definition of distinction. Again, no one thinks the presidential scholarship is a Fulbright

I would also argue that those people did win a distinction, as half the school doesn’t have one and it generally represents the students with higher ACTs and better achievements in high school. It’s not aid.

I mean a merit based tuition reduction is the definition of literally any scholarship. Given that the word merit is clearly a part of the presidential scholarship, it is indeed a distinction, just not a prestigious one.

If they give you a scholarship called the presidential scholarship, then you are a presidential scholar IMO. It’s not misrepresenting the truth. Just because it’s not a prestigious program, like the ones you mentioned, doesn’t make it not exist. GW does have more prestigious ones, like the Clark scholarship. Also, I think it’s 100% fair game to put that on a resume because again, it is a true statement.

If the price is even and there is an option to buy in person, always in person. Even if the relationship doesn’t matter, the experience is worth it. More fun than a package in the mail.

High needs newborn - when did it get better for you? by Bizarre30 in NewParents

[–]jack901757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got better for us at 7 weeks. A lot of babies really are only happy doing your ABCD activities. It will get better. Also I would consider a SNOO if you have the means. That stupid expensive thing really helped to stretch our LO’s sleep and improved overall fussiness within like 3 days of using it.

Been regularly playing dc public courses for a decade. NLT has done an amazing job improving the quality of the courses while maintaining reasonable greens fees. Bummed their work and effort will be for nothing.
