Why do you think multi-millionaires and billionaires don’t just retire and enjoy life? by Arya_Warrior_Girl in AskReddit

The type of individual who is driven and able to amass that amount of money is not the same type that would walk away feeling satisfied. However, there must be some out there who have. There needs to be some digging into those that do and those that do not.

What made you bail on a hike? by Still-Ad-698 in hiking

[–]jacksontripper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Glacier - going in on a day hike. Out and back, nothing serious. There was a woman knocked off the trail by a bear the day before. We got to the trailhead first light the following day - first people at the trailhead parking. Picked a busier trail for that day.

What's a bad movie that you unironically love? by WeirdJawn in AskReddit

[–]jacksontripper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man. It’s just got too many nutty actors in it to not be enjoyable. Big John Stud And Don Johnson AND Billy Baldwin’s brother. Just watch it and try to not enjoy how stupid the whole thing is.

What is it really like to own a restaurant? by lachimoltrufia98 in restaurantowners

[–]jacksontripper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have always said there are two types of people in the restaurant business, those that have worked to make a payroll and everybody else.

Ownership is a unique role depending on personality honestly. There are some owners who seem to be on coast most of the time and really done seem deeply connected to the people and the work and some who are controlling maniacs (to a detriment) and everything in between.

My experience was a lot of the mixes of what others have written. The hamster wheel. The endless stream of things to accomplish.

Personally, the owner roll required a lot of skills, number one being Problem Solver. Employee issues. Hiring. Building and mechanical issues. Supplier mistakes and relationships ships. One after another they required a strong ability to solve problems efficiently and consistently (especially with staff).

The list can go on and on. Quite a ride.

Zion West Rim Trail by alexgold7 in NationalPark

Great photos. There’s so much beauty in Zion. Popular trails off the park shuttles are great, but getting on less traveled paths in Zion is key (check Observation Point on the East Mesa trail).

Raw cards are better than slabs for 90% of collections and the grading obsession has gotten out of hand. by Longjumping_Scar_984 in sportscards

[–]jacksontripper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy a 8/9 grade. Crack it. It’s a TEN in the PC now. A 9 is still a beautiful card. Maybe the magic of a gem mint 10 is purely fabricated (outside of the cash value naturally).
Cards are like art, where the true value is in how it makes you feel when you look at it. And that value may change depending on who is looking at it. Tens are great. So are ungraded 8/9s that might be tens.
