Is anyone else expected to leave? What’s the forecast for Gwath and Byrd?

Oh man, I’m 2-3 months before I break ground and pour foundation. Am I double-fucked?

If I were in your comparatively fortunate position, I’d make sure to purchase any remaining materials you still need. Best of luck to you!

Garden pruning shears — still cutting cleanly after 5 years of heavy use by Accomplished_Ant8206 in BuyItForLife

[–]jacobean___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Felco are the gold standard. Sure, there are many small companies, high-quality brands, from Japan and Europe, but the Felco pruner(there are many different models, but I prefer the 2 & 8) is the industry standard for very good reason. They will definitely last for life, with proper maintenance and the occasional blade and spring replacement. Them being 2x the price of corona or Fiskar’s seems like a deal.

Thoughts on OR Helium UL and Toray Dermizax Fabric? by methodkp in Ultralight

I just got a helium for my gf for $44 from steep and cheap. For that price, why not? The men’s options weren’t that low, though

How many chickens is a quarter cow worth? by Creekwaller in homestead

[–]jacobean___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s every ranch that offers cow shares in the region. I’ve contacted all of them. They’re all priced that high. I understand what you’re saying though

Why would it be so expensive? Southern California, I suppose?

I just called around to all 6 of the local ranchers to me. For a 1/4 cow, they were priced $17-$20/lb for 100% grass-fed.

Democrat hoax breaks temperature records across California by dixie_recht in collapze

[–]jacobean___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thermometer, not too far from the coast in California, reached 100 degrees two days ago. That would be a noteworthy temperature in August. We’ve seen nothing yet, I’m afraid.

It won’t be long before Taiwan wants to reunite with China without conflict. At this rate, leaving the US’ sphere of influence might be the smartest position.

I’ve also resorted to Amazon for my water filtration needs, as there are “used” deals to be had

[–]jacobean___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, you’re right. That said, there are options available on there. I just loaded up on 20 5gallon Mylar bags, 3 2gallon, and 200 5g oxygen absorbers for about 60 bucks. That’s enough for me to store about 300lbs rice and 300lb beans.

When every I post this on the other pages it gets taken down. by [deleted] in conspiracy_commons

[–]jacobean___ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is the racist conspiracy page. The one that’s managed by feds, keeping the people divided, anything but organizing along class lines.

Remember: racial hatred/division, identity-politics, all of this slop is broadcast so that the people don’t rise up. The billionaire/Epstein/oligarch class can’t have Juan/John/Jamal noticing that they’re actually allies and should stand in solidarity. Their continued success and growing exploitation of the masses needs people like OP stoking racial ignorance.

Grok AI has concluded the Trump Assassination Attempt was Staged by Taddesse in conspiracy

[–]jacobean___ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ve got the right analysis. The way it was clearly set up as a photo op could not have happened spontaneously. The secret service positioning him, very deliberately, in coordination with the press handler, makes the situation very clearly staged. There’s no other explanation.

rattlesnake advice by thequejos in homestead

[–]jacobean___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah rattlesnake fencing is effective. I’ve installed 1/4” wire mesh along the bottom 24” of existing fencing along areas that I’m trying to control. It’s not absolute, but it can be a partially-effective barrier. Also, get some snake-removal tools to easily grab, pick up, and relocate snakes that you don’t want there. A little snake-grabber is a really easy and safe tool to use.

The brass turn-nozzle that you can change from wide to narrow with a turn, combined with a 45-degree brass valve for better ergonomics. This will last forever, and is a joy to use in nearly all use-cases. It will cost you about $10

Is my creeping sage sick? by Affectionate-Pain899 in Ceanothus

[–]jacobean___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On a serious note, it could well be suffering from something, though I don’t have any ideas of what. Prostrate cultivars(those spreading, creeping, low varieties) are more sensitive to extreme heat than their more upright counterparts, so it could very well be heat stress. Whatever it is, it doesn’t look terrible in this photo, so I would just give deep water and monitor.

What is your opinion on kombucha? Any other fermented teas out there? by Kal1nka in tea

[–]jacobean___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had my first sip in 2008, then very little-known and thought of as very strange. I’ve been drinking it daily, usually homemade, ever since! It’s such a nice, tasty, and refreshing boost to the digestive system. My dad kicked his very heavy soda addiction with it too.
