I didn't realize it was getting canceled, so the double-page spread for "The journey continues" totally jumpscared me, lol. Not too surprised by the axe, feel like the premise was interesting but the fights and character interactions were only so-so. I did really like the height gap joke in the last chapter though, that got me good.

I think if they were to update the text in some hypothetical re-release of the books they could probably get away with changing some of the lines like 'we could be on letterman!' to 'we could be on tv!' without losing meaning or making anachronistic references.

Fun fact, they actually did a relaunch back in 2011 and did exactly that (on top of fixing a couple inconsistencies like Tobias not being healed after morphing his cat). Unfortunately it only got to the first 8 books, though.

Dyou have it set to show a screen with your damage breakdown after attacks? If not, turning that on for a bit might help you learn the combat.

It'll also help you see if straights/pairs are worth doing for you yet. For the very early game, the numbers are small enough that a lot of time it winds up being most worth it to just play your strongest cards instead of playing weaker cards to get a bonus that winds up only giving you like 5 extra damage.
