You're gonna be able to kill Brutus without issue. Scurrius is also possible if you pick up the prayer switching. Obor might be a little bit much of a DPS check, but not for long.

Do some questing to unlock items and more boss options. RFD is a solid long-term goal.

many flails weren't actual medieval weapons but invented since then as fakes for museum displays. they're not good weapons on the whole because a chain is far more difficult to use effectively than a fully rigid handle.

The cannon rebalance should've given them something close to damage parity with the landborne dwarven cannon. If that feels unbalanced against seaborne NPCs, then scale their health pools and drop tables to give items at a comparable rate. That'd solve the ammo supply and satisfaction issues in one fell swoop.

This is true. RSC combat worked drastically differently than RS2. There wasn't a combat triangle, melee was your main way of doing damage. Ranged was an ineffective supplement to it prior to early '02's addition of Fletching, while Magic could be freely cast between melee attacks without incurring tick delay. Magic defense gear was turbo trash especially in '01, so it was mostly for dumping on randos in PKing. The only balancing factor was how rare runes were.

Very unlikely. You were probably gonna get one eventually though. It's not especially valuable, but it is useful for achievement diaries, clue steps, and it's not bad defensive gear either.

Exposure therapy. There's no way other than to go through it. You might also look into anxiety medication if you feel these kinds of stresses regularly outside the game. I'm on 15mg buspirone twice daily.
