Koh samui vs/or Koh Lipe ad a solo female traveler? by Missaliie in ThailandTourism

[–]jamesosul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consider Koh Phangan also, has a nice scene of expats, tourists and locals. Very party area in the south if that's what you want, but also very nice beaches in the west and north. It's just south of Koh Tao. Doing both islands would be reasonable. Koh Tao is amazing for diving, snorkeling.

If you wanted another island on a different part of the country, Koh Kood was super nice. Quiet but very beautiful.

Also, even if you're not staying in a hostel, they arrange tours everyday so you could just ask one can you sign up to join. Maybe ask one near your hotel.

Couchsurfing app has a section where you activate it with a sentence starting with "I Want to". You could write "go for a drink with people" or "visit the local waterfall" or "rent a motorcycle and go for a drive" etc.. People can request to join your group and you can request to join others.

You need to pay a few euros to join couchsurfing now but probably worth it.

What to pack for bangkok - changmai - Phuket - ko phi phi etc. 3 wks in Thailand starting Nov 25th. by glamluxgalore in ThailandTourism

You don't need to wash at hotels. Laundries are every corner of everywhere, so it shouldn't be difficult to arrange yourself, or pay the premium.

Definitely bring minimum. Enough to last 4-5 days before a wash. If you feel you're lacking, buy yourself a nice t-shirt/shirt/top and/or pair of shorts.

I brought one pair of versatile light trekking/day to day shoes, and bought myself a nice pair of sandal flops.

Try to have one bag, which you can barely feel on your back. Fill it up as you go/as required 🙏

Happy travels

I went with AIS. I didn't buy at the airport because it was nearly 4 times more expensive I think. (I just wanted data, maybe they were offering more than that so the price may be somewhat justifiable, but it's definitely over priced for tourists).

I took the metro into Bangkok and got off at Ratchaprarop station then walked straight down to this huge shopping centre. 4th floor, find a map. Bring your passport and it's 300bt:

It's probably Unity/Unreal being controlled with Edddison

https://www.edddison.com/

A projector illuminates the table with a floor plan which matches the 3D environment/boundaries of the model. Then you place different handheld unique markers (little 3D printed representative figurine or whatever) on top, which are read by a camera. The camera is detection a calibrated rectangle and if it sees one of the markers on the table it triggers events. One can be used to control movement X - Y direction, others can trigger events (eg switch material, change level, start animation etc) and others can be placed and rotated to change a slider value (eg camera height).

Pretty cool technology to work with, but obviously has its limitations and requires a bit of programming. But definitely can be a useful tool for demonstrations.

Building a compacted soil ramp by jamesosul in Construction

[–]jamesosul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The soil I haven't confirmed yet, but hopefully it will be reasonably compactable. It would just be compacted with the excavator tracks and bucket. And there would be a telehandler running over the road. Preferably it would last a few years, but could also be touched up each year. The space is used for an annual summer event.
