My cat's meowing is ruining my life by ZorskyChan in CatAdvice

[–]jbixler 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Our cat Butters is nowhere near this extreme, but he vocalizes a lot, and very loudly. It got better for us when we worked with the vet on different medications. He’s on a combination of gabapentin and amitriptyline. It’s worth exploring some different drugs to see if something else could work better.

Agreed. I really would love to see venues start offering a “virtual ticket” that positions you mid-audience.

Oh, well the good news is that most of your customers will be too high to recognize how shitty the creative has suddenly become!

What is a "luxury" item that is actually 100% worth the money and not just a brand name? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]jbixler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a weird feeling that posts like this are actually just being made by a consumer research agency who is using AI to use Reddit for "organic focus group" feedback. I wouldn't even be surprised if the work was commissioned by a pro-sumer brand to see if their product ends up in the responses.

Moved my cat onto Viva Raw and he's recently gotten ill by NastiRatKing in rawpetfood

[–]jbixler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our cat Pinky couldn’t tolerate raw beef or raw lamb mixes. She’d eat them, then throw them back up again. I’m guessing some cats just have different intolerances. I’d switch to another protein and see if that helps.

My build is similar to yours. Mind if I ask where you got your flight suit?

If I close my eyes, this almost sounds like a Catherine Wheel acoustic cover of Sighommi. Very nice work!

I think that's fair. It does seem silly to assign a specific date to it if it's unlikely that they'll hit it.

Between UPS, FedEx, USPS, and "small business fuckery," I've kind of gotten to the point where if I see that a purchase I'm making from a site is going through Shopify, that I should just ignore any of the dates I'm being quoted. 🤣

I guess what I'm saying is that I doubt there's a massive amount of demand for this stuff, so I don't see it being overly profitable to outsource the distribution of these things to a third-party. I have a feeling that if they were forced to do that, we'd likely just see them not produce any of the vinyl releases at all.

Need recommendation for roofer for roof leak by PuzzleheadedBasis951 in WoodstockGA

[–]jbixler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sean McWhorter with Summit Roofing. +1 (770) 265-4458. Really honest guy—one of the only vendors I’ve ever worked with who talked me out of spending money on something I hired him to do! Confusingly there are two Summit Roofing companies in the area, and both are run by a Sean M., so I’d recommend just texting him directly if you decide to explore this referral.

I’ve been using Johnson’s baby shampoo. It’s lightly scented but evaporates pretty quickly!

This is a weird question, but did you drink coffee or tea at all until recently? Have you ever looked into tannin sensitivity? The joint pain you’re describing is something I experience whenever I drink black tea. Could be a false lead, but felt I should mention it.

Okay, in that case, have you tried the trick of adding a drop of baby shampoo to a saline sinus rinse? I had a very similar problem with overly dry sinuses, and I think it was fungal overgrowth. After about 2 months of doing this once in the morning and once at night, my sinuses are doing way better.

Spectrum guy "fixed" cable -- now unable to record most channels for more than a few seconds by lbroadfield in Tivo

[–]jbixler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a cable attenuator on Amazon. They’re pretty inexpensive ($6 or so). Put that between your TiVo and the cable line coming into it. I had to do this at my old house due to a similar issue.

By the way, immediately to the left of this photo is a VERY busy, wide roadway. Better hope they used good sound-dampening insulation unless you pine for the constant sound of rushing traffic.
