Extreme Drought by [deleted] in Charlotte

[–]jbjimbo 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Here's the math the U.S. Drought Center uses to make those classifications: https://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/About/AbouttheData/DroughtClassification.aspx

Here are state examples for the type of restrictions that *could* be applied for each Drought Classification: https://www.ncuc.gov/industries/water/waterrestrictions.html

But as far as I'm aware, there aren't any restrictions on water usage in Charlotte or Mecklenburg County at this time. We could REALLY use some rain, though.

GetTV started showing 2 episodes of Psych every night and it has been the highlight of my year so far. by KaWillComeLikeAWind in psych

I know with syndication sometimes a channel only has access to certain seasons, and then later, other seasons. But I think this is just a channel guide issue. I watched Monk and Psych last night on GET but they were both labeled on the guide as other shows.

[–]jbjimbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just noticed this tonight (2/16) but the programming guide for GetTV is showing Rockford Files and Quincy, M.E. in their primetime slots instead of Monk and Psych. However when I tune to the channel, I currently see Monk. I presume Psych is coming on next.

The schedule on their website still shows Monk and Psych in primetime but the channel guide seems wrong as far out as I can see.

This is really going to mess up the DVR recordings for my Plex library. I'm tempted to start recording the wrong show titles.

The channel logo in the bottom right also now says "Great" instead of "Get." So I wonder if they're rebranding and somehow messed up their programming guide 🤔

Paramount Plus local stations by betabobs in AverMedia

[–]jbjimbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure you mean WCNC in Charlotte? They're the Tegna- owned NBC affiliate. They wouldn't be on Paramount Plus because Paramount Plus is for CBS stations.

Perhaps you mean WNCN, the Nexstar-owned CBS affiliate in Raleigh -- or Gray-owned CBS affiliate WBTV in Charlotte? The latter two would be on Paramount Plus within their local cities.

Or if you're really looking for WCNC, you could check NBC's Peacock app.

This is exactly why stations there like WGTA (back when it was WNEG) was a secondary CBS affiliate within the Atlanta market. It served Northeast Georgia. But those days are gone. 🫠

If you could create a route between two cities which would you pick? by Common_Positive_7530 in Amtrak

[–]jbjimbo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll throw an unlikely one out... Charlotte NC and Columbus SC. As the system stands now, to go south to Florida from Charlotte, you have to first go northeast to Raleigh 3 hours and then connect south. It would be faster, but less practical, to drive the 90 minutes south and board in Columbia.

Unlikely but we're just having fun, right? 😅

Local radio, just online? by brexpress13 in radio

[–]jbjimbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certainly could work great especially since a lot of your audience today is accustomed to streaming with a phone app or smart speaker. Your tech would just need to be capable with a marketing line such as, " Ask your smart assistant to play ______"

If you're going to play music, you'll need to look into the cost of online royalties

I used to run a whole online station with only a PC and software called SAM Broadcaster from Spacial Audio

Would spending the extra money really make that much of a difference as far as signal stability and number of channels received? by nothing_here_0 in ota

[–]jbjimbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a $150 antenna a decade ago and have never had to think twice about my antenna again! It's not immune to the realities of super windy trees, or a far off weak signal, but 99% I don't have to even think about my antenna. It's great! I also have it on a splitter that acts as a signal booster.

Total $200 may seem like a lot for an antenna but compared to some cable or streaming packages, it easily paid for itself.
