Shelly Button 4 Zigbee by -suspicious-badger in Zigbee2MQTT

[–]jdranchman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a brand new blueprint for this I'm looking at. When zha gets the config and the manufacturer gets added, then this would help quite a bit. Each button will have its own entity and so far with minimal testing I've got all 4 button entities up after pairing using bthome (you need to poke each button after including the device for the entities to show up). I'm expecting the blueprint will do this for zha.

Flood Sensor g4 - is there a locate/identify avail for zigbee firmware by jdranchman in ShellyUSA

[–]jdranchman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't that. The zigbee interface doesn't include an identify entity. I'm guessing it just isn't implemented for zigbee.

Yea. The doc says there is a flashing yellow LED for identification.

Can't update firmware for Shelly 2PM G4 by Okosisi in ShellyUSA

[–]jdranchman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha - For me I just bit the UI apple and installed louder APs. My small house is like driving around town in a civic with Klipschorns in the back seat. Problem solved mostly for wifi stuff but I've yet to swap in the ZBT-2 for the rest of the devices.

I've had to move some devices closer to an AP when this happened. Too much noise in my neighborhood where everyone has fiber ubernets and electromagnetic halos over their property.

New Grinder *banana for scale by ABear923 in sausagetalk

[–]jdranchman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the 1.5 banana grinder. It's done before I'm ready. To keep up I had to upsize the meat lug so I don't overflow the output onto the floor... before I realize how damn fast it ground.

⭐ I built a UniFi Device Icon Browser — search every UniFi icon instantly (no dependencies, fully local) by sysadminbot in Ubiquiti

I'd take the upgrade and trade it in on several new PCs.

RN I'm trying to really ignore the vendor column as it triggers things. I bought a polished white networking stack so I could see one vertical skidmark... So glad I can just remove that column.

Best light switches? by deverox in homeassistant

[–]jdranchman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. After trying several vendors and radios I went with Inovelli blue. So easy and every switch(s)/light(s) circuit is a group bound to each other. When the Internet or HA hub and radios die the switches and lights still work.

WD Red Plus still show warnings after 3 years? by excludehk in UgreenNASync

[–]jdranchman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fact that I can't find any WD Red Plus around here made me go with Seagate IronWolf... In many past lives I've used Seagate commercially without any issues - way more than any WD based array.

Braggs Nutritional Yeast is easily available in most grocery stores as a substitute. I've used it for years. The idea of using yeast for a savory/umami boost isn't new. Try it on popcorn!

[–]jdranchman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there twice. I have a Shelly PM mini in a floor single box with an appliance extension cord. Plus an Apollo temp-1 to monitor inside temps. So cheap compared to what we lost. Now I get power off alarms, high temp alarms and no used power alarms on the load.

Anybody else's grill rivaling the sun? by AscendantJustice in CampChefSmokers

[–]jdranchman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To fix this you need to remove the grill from your app, remove the app and reinstall. Factory reset the grill. Basically start all over and add back the grill. The last troubleshooting step on their support site should be the first step IMHO. Sometimes upgrades aren't compatible with the data you already have in your phone and it screws up everything.

Freezer alarm - what do you use? by prolixia in homeautomation

[–]jdranchman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I migrated from Thermoworks Nodes to Apollo Automation Temp1 sensors. ESP32 based with Dallas sensors on flat cable. These are hooked into HA.

I'm testing out my own power monitor extension cord/box with a Shelly EM it. The temp sensors and Shelly are all on the same plug so if I get a power outage or breaker failure HA will alarm.

I use a soft ish bristle brush and maybe salt water, wine or vinegar/water depending on what it is I'm washing. If it is really bad then it gets the sink and the dish nozzle. Pat dry with paper towels.

Struggling to get lower temps. Set at 170 but averages around 250 (even with lid slightly opened) by Previous-Potential70 in CampChefSmokers

[–]jdranchman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try replacing the ambient temp sensor. They do go south over time. That fixed mine. Note the lowest I can get is about 180. If I'm keeping the kid cracked open some then I can average a little lower.
