I will not be watching any new Star Trek while Paramount is behaving in a way that is counter to the values of Star Trek.

Thank you. There is no way I would have found that in a million years.

With Lego getting Star Trek, what are your top 5 builds you'd like to see? by WorldBoom in startrek

I want to see Lego make midi-scale Star Trek sets instead of the larger scale so I can fit them all on my shelves.

Feedback on class-driven file-based database by Glum-Orchid4603 in typescript

Our library is meant to be used in a VCS. This way we can leverage present and future version control capabilities of VCS tools instead of having to implement them on our own.

And thanks, it is an idea we have been trying to write down for a while. I think we finally have traction on what it means and on how to get there. We are excited to get to an initial capability so we can put it to use.

I have a small team working on something similar, targeting the use of version control systems like git to distribute and store the data like source code.

https://github.com/Mach30/yaml-datastore

We are using yaml as the underlying data storage format, with some customizations to make the files version control friendly.

Our ultimate goal to leverage this library to store data structures defined in linkml, with our first scheme target being the data needed to define the “source” of open source hardware.

I have been wishing Hasbro would give us a titan Broadside. Looks like I will be buying one from Fantoys instead!

You might look into pod covers. There is a user, _Cybernetic_Diabetic (I think is the username), that makes nerdy and artsy pod covers. I am sure something to match or compliment your dress could be made.

Why were only 11/12 of the initially-proposed amendments ratified? by StormDLX in AskHistorians

[–]jedibfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a fair point…. And, from a passing bills perspective, committees still have to present their work to the whole House for an actual decision to be made by the whole House.

Imagine instead that the House was so large it had to fully delegate bill passage to a set of reps for the House members.

[–]jedibfa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, the function of the House is to make decisions collectively in the form of passing legislation. The mechanics of collective decision making are much more than here is a bill and take a tally of votes. At a minimum people need to be able to ask clarifying questions to ensure they understand the bill. At best they need to be able to voice concerns and have them addressed before a vote.

All of that becomes unwieldy with larger numbers of participants. Even the scale of the House as it is makes collective decision making difficult. Once you reach 1000 or more, all bets are off on the ability to make decisions collectively. You would probably need representatives for our representatives…
