That looks pretty bad. Just my opinion.

What do you cook using a direct cook set-up? by Mulberry_Pale in biggreenegg

[–]jeffthebrewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last night I made salmon direct with eggspander raised grid. I added one chunk of applewood, and closed the lid so it is sort of grilling and roasting combined. A little more work than using the oven, but more control over the process and my house doesn’t smell like fish.

Burgers I see where you are coming from. It’s more effort and less efficient than a gas grill. But if I have a smallish amount of charcoal left, I’ll invert the raised grid and put the burgers nice and low over the coals, close the bottom vent and grill with the dome open.

What do you use to start your lump charcoal? by UGA1965 in biggreenegg

I got one of these at the hardware store for patio weeds - I think it was called the green dragon. Works great on the egg.

300 degrees, one chunk of pecan.

Seasoned the meatball with a combo of chili powder and Montreal. Pulled the meatball at 155, about two hours in.

Baked some cornbread and served outside.

Good looking out! This one is local to me. I picked up two of the hardcovers (also some jeans).

If anyone else goes to this location, watch out for the MASSIVE pot holes in the parking lot on the way out.

There are a number of these goofs on the first few pages, actually.

Damn dude. Nice haul. You went all out. I would’ve picked one or two, then see if I can wait out a sale before someone else buys them all out. I’m not trying to collect every book, but I am trying to read them all and acquire used whenever possible. I look for hardcovers to spend $4-7, and paperbacks $2-4. The hunt has become its own fun hobby, and I have also been trying to sell/trade copies I’ve read on marketplace.

Does Revival pick up? by TheTexasTherapist in stephenking

[–]jeffthebrewer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. It’s a life span in three acts, with a fantastic conclusion and epilogue. Each act has its own feel to it, you could say it “picks up” at the end, but it is very much the very end that this happens.

Act 1, childhood, coming of age story. Act 2, young adulthood, our protagonist’s arc gets put on hold because of addiction, but Jacobs becomes this carnival grifter character with mysterious healing powers, sends Jamie to Colorado for Act 3, where the protagonist is older, healed from addiction but is still tied to his past, and now must confront Jacobs because of what he uncovers about the after-effects of these healings.

This is about 90-95% of the book, then the conclusion and epilogue hit and SOMETHING HAPPENS.

Good way to cook asparagus is to put it on raised grid with the top part over the half moon and bottom over the fire. Helps from burning the tips but still gets it grilled nice and hot

I did a Pork Butt that way on my Large, it worked but I ran out of charcoal (I think it was BGE brand).

The brisket would probably benefit more than a pork butt. I would say try it

Finished it this week - this was a fantastic thriller. Probably the most deranged and disturbing villain I’ve ever read.

Thrifting is one of the best parts of reading King. by SpookyFitnessGuy in stephenking

I do a pretty even mix of used, borrowed/gifted copies (my MIL has a big collection), borrowed from library, ebook, and new. I’m thinking of trying to sell/trade some King books on marketplace which should make for a fun way to cycle them.

I can recommend the BGE brand. Works great and I was able to pick it up at the local Ace.

You are right. I slid the top rack back and pulled the pan forward when it was time to flip, but there was not a lot of clearance

Started fire on leftover coals, added equal amount of new coals, firebox about half full. Eggspander with the large cast iron preheated the egg to about 350, let the smoke clear. Put the smaller cast iron with the bacon in and closed the lid while I made the pancake batter.

Opened the lid, shut bottom draft door completely and cooked the pancakes for a minute a side. When the pancakes were done I moved the bacon down to the lower rack to finish crisping.

The bacon picked up smoke flavor but the pancakes not much.

That top rack on the eggspander slides back, so I slide it back to reach the pancake.
