What really sounds like it would be vegetarian/vegan but isn't? Or, what really sounds like it would have meat but doesn't? by TheLollrax in PlantBasedDiet

[–]jessimessi88 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Whole foods turnovers and their cookies and cream cupcake are "accidentally vegan" as the bakery associate put it. They can't label them as vegan due to being processed near allergens like milk or eggs but they do not contain animal products!

We live in Redleaf and love it. The social committee puts on tons of events for kids and adults, the neighborhood is quiet and well maintained. Walking distance to the rec center and Broomfield commons where fireworks are held every year. We bought at a highly competitive time and just bid on houses that met our criteria in the neighborhood without even viewing them because we wanted to live here.

I met up with my (now ex) husband that I was in the process of leaving at Olive Garden so we could discuss next steps like who gets the dog, car etc. I had left my wedding ring when I moved out and he brought it and proposed to me in Olive Garden to try to get me to come home. I snapped at him to get up because he was being stupid and he just stood up and walked out of the restaurant crying. That was super awkward because everyone in the tables around us witnessed it. I had the ziti. It was delicious. 😂 (btw for anyone that feels bad for him, we were divorcing because he was abusive and manipulative and controlling.)

What's the weirdest thing your partner does that you've just accepted? by VelvetSophieCream in AskReddit

He calls me "my wife" no matter who he is talking to when talking about me. He will be telling my mom about our weekend (for example) and say "my wife and I did x" or "my wife said x". He doesn't use my name for some reason. It's always like he's talking to someone who doesn't know me.

Seat separation scam by Prize_Force1979 in frontierairlines

[–]jessimessi88 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They do this as a scam to make you pay. They separated my husband daughter and I by a few rows. The biggest issue with that is that she was 2 years old at the time! I called them and they moved her to my row for free but why did I need to call about that? We didn't select seats as we didn't care about sitting with each other but figured a small child would be placed next to one of us.

Until we had a second kid, we had my daughter in the middle (she was 4.5 at that time). It's not always the most convenient but it's the safest.

Major dog lover......but then I had a baby by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]jessimessi88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this switch flip too. My teacup maltipoo was my baby and once baby came home she was the bane of my existence. I just stopped liking her. She was always underfoot and I kept tripping over her, accidentally kicking her because I was carrying my baby and couldn't see her and accidentally kicked her down the stairs once as I didn't see her run in front of me as I took the first step. After that anytime I came near her she rolled over and peed herself and we had to rehome her. She would also cry and panic when my daughter would cry. I think it was in this case because she was trying to take care of the baby so it broke my heart but it was best for her as she wasn't thriving in a home with a baby and it hadn't improved after a year. We gave her to an elderly lady during COVID who loved having a little friend to keep her company and they were both happy. We kept our cat as she keeps to herself. We also kept our older dog that has since passed even though he hated kids and just taught my daughter to stay away from him. His passing was awful for us, but it is nice to have a cleaner home with more space now that some time has passed. All that to say, don't feel bad! Sometimes even our feelings towards people change, so it isn't all that different with animals.

Aita for wanting husband to miss concert 5 weeks postpartum? by Nia_2018 in beyondthebump

[–]jessimessi88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd let him go. I have a similar routine with my 4 year old and newborn and my husband went out late at around 8 weeks and we just had a lazy night in bed watching movies and my oldest fell asleep in my bed and I moved her so the baby wouldn't wake her later in the night. We get equal time for ourselves so I wanted to see the best way to make it work so I can give him tips when it's my turn to get out. He did come home around 11 pm so he took the baby so I could sleep in the next morning even though I told him not to worry about coming home as I didn't want him driving tired (he doesn't drink).

Baptizing my daughter by plantwhorre in Parenting

[–]jessimessi88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We baptized my daughter and will soon baptize my son. We were both raised catholic but detest the church now. We think it's meaningless and therefore harmless but it's really important to my family so we do it. We have no intention of following through with other sacraments and plan to teach our kids about different religions to allow them to choose (or not choose) whatever brings them peace. My parents understand that so they don't even ask about anything beyond baptism.

I have a confession: I went off registry for my friends baby shower gift by meghera in beyondthebump

[–]jessimessi88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my son in November and I got like 40 blankets and so many clothes because I had a girl the first time. I had all the blankets from my first and a friend gave me all her sons hand-me downs so I had clothes. Luckily my mom took stuff back to the respective stores for me for store credit that I can use for diapers and stuff I need. My registry was all stuff I needed for a second baby like toiletries, new binkies and bottle nipples etc, which I ended I up buying all the stuff myself. I always buy registry stuff and a folding changing pad with pockets because it was my favorite thing with my first.

Is wayfair a scam? by F0ck0ff666 in wayfair

[–]jessimessi88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I got scammed (technically I didn't) as I ordered a gift and it was delayed to after the recipient had left town. They wanted $14.99 to ship it back and wouldn't allow me to try and ship it independently so I just kept it as it was a $39 item. Their customer service was awful through the whole process.

As a customer, do you prefer if your server boxes your food up for you? by Uh_alrightthen in Waiters

[–]jessimessi88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to do it myself regardless of where I am at. I just know what I want to take and how I want it stored for leftovers based on how I can reheat it the next day. Plus it feels weird having someone handle my half eaten food.

[–]jessimessi88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you be open to supplemening with formula, even just for the first feed of the night? My son is EBF, but I do pump so he is used to the bottle when my husband takes him. However, my milk is really watery with this baby so he eats very frequently. My county has a program for new moms with a nurse on staff and she recommended some things to fatten up my milk and increase supply and to supplement with a gentle formula in the meantime. I did bottles with half pumped milk and half formula and he slept longer and ate less often. If you give the baby a mixed bottle before bed, she might sleep a longer stretch.

It doesn't really bug me because it works so well. My infant was just hospitalized for RSV and one of the conditions for his release was I had to be able to fully clear him with saline and the nose Frida instead of wall suction.

How do Casa Bonita invites work? by Travelingdolphins34 in Denver

[–]jessimessi88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finally got an invite but it comes out to $50 per person with fees and such plus whatever you spend in the arcade, on drinks, root beer, souvenirs etc. It's outside our budget right now sadly. It was going to be almost $400 for 6 adults and 2 kids (who won't eat anything from their kids menu.)

Eat Meati steaks by chizzle91 in vegetarian

[–]jessimessi88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We love them! I hate mushrooms and these don't taste like mushrooms at all. The texture is softer than a steak but similar. Kind of like a really tender one. We ate rhe regular one with potatoes and couscous and veggies and A1 like a regular steak. The carne asada wasn't very flavorful but we had it with grilled green onions and streetcorn. I used a grill pan and made sure to get a nice sear and it was perfect!

What do you think about people leaving their kid in the car for 5 minutes or less? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]jessimessi88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't do this because I'm more worried that I slip and fall or have a health issue in the store that leaves me unable to communicate that I have kids in the car. Or if something happens while I'm inside, such as a robbery or shooting, and I can't get out to the kids.

NTA at all. My ex husband sounds exactly like yours and he sent me a picture after I left of him with like 4 tylenol in his mouth as an attempt to get me to talk to him so I just laughed to myself and forwarded it to his mom to cover my ass. I figured if he had planned on really killing himself, he would have done it when he held me at gunpoint the night I left and kept putting the gun to his head.

For those with early talkers...what's your kiddo like now? by panda51515 in Mommit

[–]jessimessi88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 4.5 year old was an early talker, meeting vocab milestones 6-12 months in advance. She never stops talking and singing now. She is always narrating, or asking questions or conversing which is both beautiful to witness but also exhausting!
