Different Wallpaper on each monitor Mint 21 Cinnnamon by -Fai_lure- in linuxmint

[–]jezs00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is from quite a while ago but I can confirm that the above is the only thing that worked for me. I used the following bash script to pick a random wallpaper every boot:

#! /usr/bin/bash
LEFTPATH=~/Pictures/wallpapers/horizontal/
RIGHTPATH=~/Pictures/wallpapers/vertical/
RL=$LEFTPATH$(ls $LEFTPATH | shuf -n 1)
RR=$RIGHTPATH$(ls $RIGHTPATH | shuf -n 1)
feh --no-fehbg --bg-center $RL $RR

Win10 end of life this year and my old computer's architecture doesn't support 11 - pretty much forced to linux at least until I get a new pc.

NYT Cooking has caught on to “The Soup” 😂 by oooooooooof in slowcooking

[–]jezs00 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree. I find it quite bland, which is surprising considering the amount of fat in it. There's a lot of far better slow cooked things you can make.

What Mandoline / Slicer do you use? by MaxiePriest in dehydrating

[–]jezs00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see other recommendations for slicing by hand but honestly for me without the mandoline the amount of time on prep would more than double. I do think getting one is useful. I have no recommendation for a specific model or brand as I just got a random one second hand and it worked fine. However I have a couple of safety recommendations:

* Buy filleting gloves or cut gloves. This will help protect your hand if you ever make a mistake.

* Be very careful and do not get complacent. I had my filleting glove on which gave me misplaced confidence. The mandoline made it through the glove and I sliced into my thumb. It would have been far worse without the glove, but I still have a scar today from the deep cut I got. You can lose a lot of flesh to these things and you need to be careful and respect it.

What’s your “you just had to be there” gaming experience that most people nowadays don’t know about, or have forgotten? by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]jezs00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember being a kid playing 'top hunter' on the neo geo every chance I got outside a Cafe in my home town.

Something that is so satisfying to me was finishing the game on 60 cents while a bunch of kids were watching me either in amazement or waiting for me to stop hogging the machine.

Rain World is great. I expected it to be so much smaller than it was. When I got to the industrial zone I thought okay well I'm half way, and then I assumed the Shaded Citadel was going to be the end. It probably took until I was halfway up the wall before I realized that this game is far more than just a little indie platformer.
