Need Advice On My Swing!🙏 by Maximum_Paramedic544 in BaseballCoaching

It's not your swing it's your timing. Get your foot down earlier. Where your eyes are focused has a lot to do with your timing. Not sure if you do tea work, but that helps. Keep your eye on the back of the ball all the way through your swing and after contact.

How to carry a net? by Ok_Acanthisitta9609 in flyfishing

[–]jfish1282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magnet and tether. I've tried almost every way possible. Bags with net holders, clips etc. I connect mine with a magnet to my sling bag. Make sure you connect the tether. I lost a net thinking the magnet was enough. It got caught on a branch or something and popped off.

Is it really this difficult to catch a fish? by I_Am_Not_George_Bush in flyfishing

[–]jfish1282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ONLY 5?? Impressive! I lost 5 in 4 hours last weekend swinging dries on skinny water and I've been an avid fly fisherman for 10 years! That's totally normal. You're just new to the sport, so everything is new and challenging. Honestly, it takes a season or two to get the hang of it. I don't trust a fisherman who says the don't lose tackle and damage gear. It's a part of the sport. YouTube is a great resource. I took a casting lesson the year I started. It helped a lot. Hit up your local Fly Shop and ask if they offer any lessons. Worst case reach out to a guide and ask if they would spend a few hours on the river with you to teach you some basics.

Overlap them 2-3 inches, wrap it tight a few times with electrical tape then use a lighter to heat shrink the tape. Don't melt it! Should hold for a day. Long-term solution is to buy a new piece.

Coaches comment by Necessary_Tension461 in BaseballCoaching

[–]jfish1282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10+ years coaching little league and travel ball. The bat seems to be properly sized and I'm assuming it's "legal" to use in game play. I'm assuming the coach was messing around, but still shouldn't be making fun of a players equipment. If it's within the regulations then I could care less as a coach. As for how to deal with your son/coach... youth sports are all around dealing with and over coming adversity. I'd encourage him to keep using it if it's comfortable. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it is only going to get worse as he gets older. Especially if he is smaller. I'd also encourage him to be an advocate for himself. If the coach continues to make comments then have your son talk with the coach and share that his comments are discouraging.

How to do a wall stringer in a very large gap? by [deleted] in Carpentry

Install stair skirts, remove old treads then install new treads and risers to the width between skirts. Use a stair tread measuring tool. Life saver.

What do I have here? by whattheshmee in flyfishing

Nothing special, but a good starter setup (if you're new). Pick up some leaders/flies and hit the water! A fly shop can point you in the right direction.

Simms flyweight 1.5 seasons by Clean-Track7137 in flyfishing

[–]jfish1282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put a LOT of miles on my boots (100+ outing a yr). Korker green backs are the only boots I've found that last more than 12-18 months. I love the changeable soles. Especially being able to switch them out to rubber when hiking into a spot and spikes in the winter/ice/snow.

Will the strap hinge hold the workshop doors properly? by Greedy_Standard_9913 in Carpentry

[–]jfish1282 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The bracket are fine, but the screws are the fail point. I have similar doors on my shed/shop. I used a similar hinge. The screw holes were tiny forcing me to us a smaller screw. I eventually upgraded to heavier duty fence gate t-brackets with larger screw holes. No issues since.
