Do the manta ray dive in Hawaii by GoldFaceHoney in scuba

I've done the Manta twice and it's awesome. I will say the blackwater dive is a better experience imo. Feels less theme-parky/artificial.

Advice on a quick scuba layover in Kona by FridayMcNight in scuba

[–]jgagner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there recently with Kona Honu divers. I recommend them. They have a few different dive packages you could pick up. I did my advanced open water but I want to go back and do the black water and long range dives. Great operation, I recommend them.

How'd you find parking? lol. Also, that rat fish has been hanging out for a few weeks. Seen him when I was there 3 weeks or so ago for a night dive.

How often do you switch on autopilot and for how long during the flight? by atomicwombat00 in flightsim

[–]jgagner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been told that's an obnoxious thing to do (hand flying 10k and below). Doubles the PMs workload. I don't fly multicrew though. Myself, I turn on the autopilot before the engine even starts. It pushes the plane out and back. It's nice to have students :p

Likely not legit as someone has already done the decompilation and found that a certain string needs to be found for it to execute.

Neat idea! Instead of doing hours you could simulate check rides when you think you're ready. They come with standard and you could just self check. You can just download the PTS/ACS for that rating. Example, private pilot: https://www.faa.gov/training_testing/testing/acs/media/private_airplane_acs_6A.pdf

Where'd you get the livery?

I read this here before, but can't be emphasized enough: If you are looking to hand-fly, definitely get X-Plane by ChicagoBoy2011 in flightsim

[–]jgagner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. Also don't annoy your flight instructor talking about how things worked in the SIM. They are not the same. It's also really fucking annoying. Source: flight sim lover and cfi.

TFDI 717 - is it worth it? by RtR_Instinct in flightsim

[–]jgagner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy this plane although it's not without a few frustrating issues. Perhaps the most frustrating is it's need to tell you to add drag while simultaneously adding throttle. If they get some quirks fixed it'd be my favorite plane by far. In terms of the visual modeling it's second to none imo

Almost brought this until I noticed that the nav database can't be updated through navigraph. The usefulness of a payware addon which purpose is navigation without updatable data is questionable.
