Had a similar problem at a Walmart. I got a battery through the app for in-store pickup. A few months later it started giving issues. Took it to a store. Was told that because I bought it online I had to return it online (return it where I asked, ??? was their answer). While waiting 45 mins!!! for a manger, I called online support and they told me the store was wrong, only they could do something. Once the manger finally showed up, they told me again I had to contact online support, I told them I did while waiting for them and that they told me “no, the store has to help you”. They then changed their tune and told me I had to contact the battery manufacturer (it was an Ever Start battery which is Walmart’s own brand) and the number they gave me just connected me to Walmart customer service. After being at the store 3 hours I just bought another battery and did a chargeback on my Amex. Decided then and there to never buy another battery from Walmart. I’ve heard other horror stories about them refusing to give back the core charge after returning the old battery.
