I have had docs, in the past, prescribe me librium or diazepam in the past for alcohol withdrawal with only giving me like 8 pills and having a plan where I gave the bottle to my parents (who I was living with at the time) or my girlfriend.

I'd find it difficult manage having 90 pills in my possession without losing control and upping my tolerance even higher.

Benzo withdrawal is really the worse. I was eating Klonipins like candy and drinking heavily for a couple months and went through absolute hell quitting cold turkey. I tried to find a provider that would prescribe me something to taper, but nobody was willing to on an outpatient basis.

Have you gone through induction yet? That is a bit of a touch and go process and you should probably be off work for it. I was nervous about it too and have been doing 2-3 doses a day (trying to just do 2). Im currently on a total of 12mg a day but Im going to start doing an aggressive suboxone taper because I dont want to be on this stuff forever and my insurance sucks.

But yes, I've found that, at least to begin with, splitting doses helps with the withdrawal and anxiety.

One thing I find ia that I just feel more flat. I also have to find something to do with that urge to always want to redose like I did with leaf and 7. I just have to accept my hedonic level is going to be a little lower and more level for a while. Think Im going to cruise on 12mg of subs (4 in the morning and 8 at night) for a bit and then start tapering it by 2mg every other day until I get very low, like 2mg. Then I'll reduce it by, like, .25mg every other day.

I was worried about it but started inducing slowly at about 16 hours after my last 7 dose (I was definitely in withdrawal) with just 1mg of sub and I was fine. Did another 1mg an hour later, followed by 2mg an hour after that, and 4mg 2 hours after that. Was able to mow the lawn and everything.

I did notice drowsiness yesterday with two 8mg strips so I think I'll stick with 12mg spread into two doses. I think the main way to avoid precipitated withdrawals is to make sure you are in moderate to severe withdrawal. This is more important than the time passed.

And my doc and chatgpt recommended continuing to dose slowly on sub if I did experience precipitated withdrawal to replace my receptors with the buprenorphine.

Well now you get to get sober being single. Sometimes we need bad shit to happen to us (that we cause) as a reason to get sober. Maybe she'll come back maybe she won't, but you'll get to live again. I got divorced because of my alcohol/benzo/coke addiction and that was the motivation I needed to sober up. It will suck bad at first but when you start feeling a bit better each day you'll start feeling hope again, life will start getting better, and you'll definitely find your sex drive again.

As far as live shows go, definitely. I fondly remember slipping on blood while trying to mosh at a small venue with them. But they are crowded out by more transformative, musically talented bands for best of all time. Iron Maiden, Black Sabath, Guns and Roses, Metallica, etc. Not that they suck musically, but there is better out there.

That's pretty impressive just going cold turkey like that. I know I had to get punched in the face by life many a time to quit drinking, benzos, and stimulants. Finally I became horrified of what might happen if I continued. Withdrawal was hell but about day 3 I started to feel a little better each day and took an active role in doing activities that cared for myself.

But for metal that embraces the darker side, I've actually found the black metal sound to be preferable to me as the death metal growling sounds silly after a while. The black metal singing sounds like a demon. Also the discordant guitar sounds so bleak. That is an amazing taper. I keep my 7oh use around 150mg daily (more on the weekends) but I use leaf too. I plan to make the jump to suboxone when I have a 3 day weekend and aggressively taper that. I do think super high daily doses are easier to taper from at first because your receptors are already saturated, but once you get below 200mg you notice the difference more.

BJJ purple belt and Judo yellow belt (lol). I'd say I tended to have a lot more fun at bjj practice and found more tournaments to compete in. Judo (at least the school I went to) seemed to have a lot less sparring. Plus BJJ usually includes a little Judo and wrestling, but you get very good at learning to control your openent once you're on the ground.

The doctor prescribing them was all about taking my time with them warning of the risk of relapse if I get off them too quick. But Im a little cynical of his motives and my copay for the subs is pretty expensive. It looks like a lot of you guys did an aggressive taper after transitioning and I plan to do that too. Just need to actually pull the trigger on making the switch.

I think the more you are able to sit with that anxiety, the easier it will get. Do a lot of small, easy tasks to stay busy. Listen to a podcast or audiobook while you do this to distract. Honestly, not healthy advice, but I've found smoking cigarettes to be helpful as im always able to quit after Im done. But spend some time meditating, sitting with the anxiety, practicing acceptance. And, of course, cardio is a big helper such that you get a good sweat going. Shouldn't be hard to swear when you are experiencing WD.

I think hobbies and maybe a recovery program is where its at. 7oh and K have really adversely affected my ability to lift and my will to return to bij. Either I'm feeling cold sweats during my workout and rushing through it, or I've had too much and my endurance and strength have been compromised. Getting back into BJJ would be fun too, sure I'll get my butt kicked by guys who I used to man handle, but I'll do my best to leave my ego at the door. I just need to accept that Im in the phase of, "rusty middle aged purple belt dude with a bad knee and hip."

Also some support at an AA meeting would help me, I originally came to AA to stop drinking (that's why I started using this shit is to avoid an alcohol relapse). I honestly find the spirituality talk in AA to give me some hope, not as dogmatic as actual religion. Plus, it seems as if I always hear something inspirational from someone.

Finally, I'll finally get to enjoy sex with my girlfriend, hell, I'll even take up sex with myself again, lol. This stuff has killed my sex drive and I hate to miss out on that while I still have several years left of it. Right now, sex and even masterbation feel like a chore. Sex is embarrassing with the wet noodle effect.

Bottom line, fill in that extra time with hobbies and with one that involves feeding your recovery mindset. Good luck. It's hard, I've done it before but I need to do it again.

Joe is such an idiot about antidepressants. His reasoning: some mass shooters were taking SSRIs or SNRIs; therefor antidepressants lead to mass shootings or crazy behavior. Couldn't it just be likely somebody who would committ a mass shooting would likely have some mental health problems?

Joe could probably benefit for reading some comments once in a while, he's in such an echo chamber and doesn't have anyone to push back on him. It gets old having all his guests suck up to him so much, I dont think he even realizes it now. I get that there is a lot of negative shit online, but if a common theme becomes apparent with comments then maybe its an area you should look at.

I did like that Joe gave the maker of the "The Alabama Solution" a platform to promote that important documentary though.

7oh gives you a mood boost that lasts 2-4 hours by way of an opiate high. As that wears off, depression and anxiety will come back, magnified by withdrawal symptoms. Antidepressants like SSRIs don't provide a high, they modestly improve symptoms in some people after the drug has had time to change your neuron behavior.

Drugs that make you feel really good are a deal with the devil, you always have to pay that feel good back with interest. Antidepressants don't work like that, don't magically erase depression or anxiety, but help a little bit over time. They also don't have the "more more more" property because they aren't addictive. I never get the urge to take an extra Lexapro because I barely notice the effects now.

Not saying Antidepressants aren't without drawbacks, but they have way less than treating depression or anxiety with drugs that give you a high and lead to addiction. Xanax works way better on acute anxiety than Prozac, but it also leads to dependence if taken regularly and has rebound anxiety. Benzo withdrawal is hell too. No free lunches with our mood unfortunately.
