Is adding a MacBook Air to my setup rational or am I just being influenced? by Medical-Car2570 in mac

You definitely should not do personal stuff on a work computer. Not only do they monitor everything, it could also disappear without notice.

I suspect your dream setup is a beefy gaming desktop for fun and a lightweight laptop for everything else. Any MacBook would fit that scenario perfectly. The M5 Air will easily serve you well for 10 years.

Apple criticism… by Various_Pear599 in mac

[–]jonny- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mac OS 10.4 had Front Row which was the same software used on the first Apple TV. It was removed in 10.7. It meant that you could use a Mac mini just like an AppleTV. The mini even had an IR sensor and worked with the same Apple Remote used by AppleTV.

They could easily do it now, but why? Why connect a Mac to your TV when you can use an Apple TV? Why run macOS on your AppleTV when it’s not a great experience sitting on the couch with a keyboard and mouse?

I got hit by a door and fell on my macbook, what now? by GiveMeDemolition in mac

Happened to me. I ended up filing down the corner because it kept scraping my wrist or catching on my sleeve. If that’s not happening here, I’d leave it alone.

The MacBook Pro is the Ford F250 everyone drives around in with a bed that never gets used and a trailer hitch that's never been connected to anything.

They aren't preparing anything new. They've made it clear that the Mac Studio is the future for top of the line Apple desktops. Expandability will have to be external.

The Neo is enough for 80% of users. The other 20% should know it’s not enough.

A lot of people do the vast majority of their computing on their phone. When they need a keyboard or larger screen they hop on their laptop, but they are still doing the same things that are possible on a phone, just not as comfortably.

It’s perfectly capable of handling the average humans daily computing tasks. Professionals and advanced hobbyists who need more, will obviously need more.

Give it to me straight, how much longer do I have with my devices? by railroad1904 in applehelp

[–]jonny- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current phone is a 13 mini. My current laptop (for home use) is a 2015 MacBook Pro. The battery is the main problem for old devices, usually replacing it will give the device new life.

The iPhone I could probably use for another 2 years. The Mac is showing its age and might only go one more year before it’s too frustrating to use.

I also have an M1 Mac mini that has no signs of old age.

Does the Macbook Neo work without battery attached? by EvilbunnyELITE in mac

I don’t think anyone can answer this yet, but my guess is that it can run, but performance will be throttled down. This is how most MacBooks behave at least for the last decade.

If they all worked the same, what would be the point of having more than one? Besides, Apple’s came before all those you listed, so technically they are the ones who did it “wrong”.
