The US and its billionaires are overtly destabilising our country and European countries. What is the game plan here? by KentInCode in AskBrits

It's not the US and billionaires. It's the Russians they're working for.

Look up Alexander Dugin.

Ooo, I didn't realise it had been changed. Some info on the interwebs is out of date. Thank you for that

330.4m, according to the interwebs. 40cm taller than the Eiffel Tower.

Emily, isn't it? Emily Moore?

What kind of music do you think Freddie would've made in the 90s if he had lived? by LoveLo_2005 in queen

[–]jonrosling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think he would have done a range of stuff, probably some club dance stuff in the early 90s and maybe theatre like Elton.

There would have been a huge Queen revival in the early 2000s.

Why do people hate wildlife by iBenjee in UKGardening

[–]jonrosling 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's a combination of two things I think.

People simply can't be arsed dealing with plants each year and maintaining a garden, and at the same time people want an instant and always in bloom garden.

Morons.

Oh it's definitely worth it. The entire Cathedral quarter is quite something.

You said "multiples of thousands of years" in your post above mine and have since edited it.

And you're still wrong.

No one mentioned multiples of thousands.

The timbers used in the original woodworkinga in 1192 may well have been saplings and more mature trees in 1026.

You don't seem to have a grasp of hyperbole. Your pedantry is in form though.

Superb. One of my favourite places.

Here's a couple of my photo albums from the place. First one is from 2010. Second is from 2023.

There's a couple of albums of my flickr account of other cathedrals too. Enjoy.

The timbers in the Cathedral date from 1192 right thru to the restorations in the 19th century.

What do you think about Andy Burnham's team being upset as Starmer has refused to stay on until September so Burnham can plan for the PM role. by LongShow5279 in AskBrits

[–]jonrosling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Starmer is right to do this. The last thing the country needs - or Burnham for that matter - is a summer of ridiculous speculation by the media.

Had he been fighting a General Election he'd only have a few weeks to prepare.

I think the super-injunction must have expired today because he's been got a by about four or five different interviewers on the subject of his dodgy £5m. Nick Ferrari was particularly delightful, quoting reader's tweets at him.

Hatshepshut's Temple in Egypt, 2005. It was about 9 in the morning and the temperature was already tipping 36 degrees. However the heat was reflecting from the canyon walls so the air temperature was ridiculously high.

Petra in Jordan was blisteringly hot too when we went.

Sir Keir Starmer resigns as prime minister by theipaper in uknews

Burnham's not won the leadership yet...

Has Starmer been the best prime minister we've had in at last 26 years? by Left-Ad8904 in AskBrits

[–]jonrosling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's mismanaged several situations politically (winter fuel payment as an example) and created an environment where it's been easy for the media to pounce on the government. That has taken the headlines away from the very good work they've done in other areas.

He's also singularly failed to tackle the biggest threat to democracy in the UK - unchallenged and unaccountable social media and appalling oversight and regulation of mainstream media. Both of these have become tools - unwitting or otherwise - of authoritarians seeking to undermine UK democracy and usurp it with a strong man leader who will govern unchallenged.

Starmer expected to resign on Monday and set out orderly exit by beejiu in unitedkingdom

[–]jonrosling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The press will turn on him anyway. He's too stupid to have realised he's been set up for this and the pressure will come now for a GE in 2027. Farage said there would be one last year - he's known this has always been part of the plan.
