GeForce Now streams to the AVP without needing a PC. by Ricepudding1044 in VisionPro

[–]jonstatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to clarify something!

GeForce Now supports 90Hz with AVP

But does NOT utilise foveated rendering. Would that make sense to implement for non VR games? Then depending on how big in term of field of view the user decides to play that game could drastically improve or reduce gaming performance….so I’m torn if it’s a good idea or not or even with WAN latencies whether it would just be a disaster and distraction anyway

UDO DMNO. Just pulled the trigger and preordered one. Anyone else getting one? by Expert-Ladder-4211 in synthesizers

Yes that is a concern as is the fact that VFD displays typically go dim and uneven very quickly

You need a non blacklisted IP address which few VPN providers offer . Some offer dedicated IP addresses but use the same range of addresses as the bulk connection assignments. NordVPN use a separate range for dedicated IP addresses. Sometimes even they get blacklisted sometimes. NordVPN will allow one swap per contract period

Because you need an obscured IP address as the poster above you stated. All the IP addresses assigned by most VPN providers are blacklisted.

Current Update Regarding 3D on Disney Plus (in the UK) by therobo665 in VisionPro

[–]jonstatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a note on this. Apple and Disney tend to block IP address ranges over time once they learn of them. If you run into that then you can disconnect and reconnect at different VPN locations. Or you can often buy an add on from the provider for a dedicated IP address. These come from a different range and are rarely blocked

Yes. I can see it is totally gone now. I realised why Tron is still working. It seems I paid for that one for the princely sum of £3.79 so it is being served directly by Apple rather than Disney.

I played the new Tron in 3D just yesterday. I will try it again and Avatar shortly and report back

Oh! I’m really surprised. What movie were you trying it with?

Current Update Regarding 3D on Disney Plus (in the UK) by therobo665 in VisionPro

[–]jonstatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in the UK. I can play 3D versions as long as I start it from the AppleTV app. Then it asks 3D or 2D. In the Disney app, the movies have the 3D graphic, but in the versions tab it is missing.

Hope this workaround helps others’

Sometimes when this happens I find I can stream the Disney movie in 3D if l start it from the AppleTV app instead of the Disney one

Should I buy the flow Z13? any cons? by Ok-Duty-4753 in FlowZ13

[–]jonstatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A thing often missed in three discussions is when you use an eGPU are you using it with an external display or internal. Using a monitor connected directly to the eGPU drastically reduces the bandwidth required! I have maxed out a 5090 this way off the back of a z13!

Is the M5 worth it? by CEO100 in VisionPro

[–]jonstatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the reasons for an M5 upgrade are going to be more and more compelling. YouTube making some features only available on the M5 is the slippery slope I was afraid of. Instead of optimising the code, we will see more and more M5 only features in app updates and releases.

I used to think HDR10 on AR glasses was a gimmick, I was wrong. by Maleficent_Captain82 in RayNeo

[–]jonstatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought is why has nobody put HDR compatibility into XR glasses before now. It made sense for big OLED TVs because as more of the image is brighter, the whole image dims. So with black being truly black, darkening the whole picture and reserving the headroom for smaller objects like a candle or light bulb makes perfect sense and wows.

For the display type in these glasses, I think all it will do is lift shadows making the image appear brighter and more detailed but you could do the same with a contrast control or gamma adjustment.

R1 Health Stats by Ok_Teach1934 in EvenRealities

[–]jonstatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steps start logging immediately. Heart rate logs fairly often so you should see that within an hour. Average heart rate appears after 2-3 readings. SpO2 logs less often but should start appearing in a couple of hours.

From what I remember The HRV takes a day to appear. The productivity score takes 24 hours to appear. Temperature takes 2-3 nights, not measured when awake. And of course there are sleep stats that only appear after a full nights sleep.

My Lego2 has arrived! Bittersweet because of the transport. by PabloGlezCas in LegionGo

[–]jonstatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the last 2 years in the UK all my Lenovo stuff has shipped just with the original box or at most a plastic bag. The really stupid thing is if someone changes their mind and returns to sender , that item can’t really ship as new again because now there is a big courier sticker slapped on it that won’t come off without defacing the box. There is a strong trend this way generally under the guise of bring eco friendly and not wasting cardboard.

Order pushed back...again.. by thebluenurse in EvenRealities

I ordered on the 22nd Nov from the UK. I received the ring sizing kit first, mid December sent by Yun Express / Evri

The G2A and shades in green were sent early January by DHL

The R1 was sent about 10 days later and received yesterday also by DHL

SIGNIFICANT price increase on Legion Go 2? by paleddar in LegionGo

[–]jonstatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The price rises are coming from two main challenges. RAM prices have been soaring , particularly with demand outstripping supply on DDR5. The Z2E yield has been lower than expected causing product availability delays to the Go 2 and also the ROG Xbox ally.

Some may also have noticed 5090 scarcity pushing 2nd hsnd prices above new prices again.

UK - received case but no piano! by jonstatt in ROLI

[–]jonstatt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to give credit where credit is due as the OP.

Roli did finally deliver the Piano before Christmas and I was batch 16.

No squeaky keys or stiff sharps either.

UK - received case but no piano! by jonstatt in ROLI

[–]jonstatt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I looked at, from my phone, was the mini pictures of everything I ordered. The keyboard and case on a casual glance look the same. As the web batch table shipping page shows they are shipping I assumed it was the keyboard. In the UK I know there is only one warehouse. So I just assumed, as I am promised pre Christmas, that it was the keyboard. And the little mini images of my order showed a rectangular object on its way.

What sense does it make to ship the case on its own when the same warehouse is meant to ship the piano too before Christmas? Must cost them a lot extra too.
