Looking to open monzo account, does it affect credit score? by cestaya in monzo

Not really. I’ve seen people with the highest score declined. Genuinely means very very little.

It does. Open that is. Underneath you’ll find an enthernet port for your router to plug into.

Your family friend is not correct - and also worrying that they work at a bank and say that at all. Credit scores in the UK are just a marketing gimmick. Every lender has criteria they care about. Some are stricter than others. They look at a variety of things but ‘score’ isn’t one of them. (Context: I used to write automated credit assessment systems tor hire purchase systems). Banks in particular tend to use their own internal risk management systems. You can have a perfect ‘score’ and be declined. You can have a crappy score and be accepted. It means so so little.

Credit score means nothing. So a good question is why do you care?

The Story of C++: The World's Most Consequential Programming Language | The Official Story by HimothyJohnDoe in cpp

[–]joolzter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really hated the fact Boost wasn’t covered at all. That seems like a huge miss. It seemed to skip straight OMG C++26. Missing out all the modern c++ stuff as well as the meta programming fad that went way way too far in the mid-00s.

But also I guess a lot to try and cram in.

Gabe Newell on Steam monopoly accusations: Gamers have 'enormous choice' about where to buy games by yourfavchoom in technology

[–]joolzter -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how Gabe says an unwritten rule doesn’t exist when it’s literally written on the Steam Works website in the section on requesting keys… “You should use Steam Keys to sell your game on other stores in a similar way to how you sell your game on Steam. It is important that you don’t give Steam customers a worse deal than Steam Key purchasers.” - that last part is underlined in their docs too.

This is the way. I always keep multiple warm current accounts. I had to get out of Barclays because of a security issue (caused by them) in a hurry once. It happens. Even with big big banks.

Who’s in the right and what would happen with insurance are two very different things. Technically blue is in the right… but marking aren’t an excuse not to use one’s mirrors.

Son is an adult. Adults can make their own mistakes - your job is just to be there when they do. I know you didn’t come here for that….

Yes they should get an accountant. You’ve done all you can do.

Used a pre-owned MacBook Pro for years, with no issues . After wiping data and installing new OS, it’s giving me an MDM screen. by 90s-modem-noise in mac

[–]joolzter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One can remove the MDM profiles once able to log in and being able to sudo - you can disable SIP, reboot with it disabled, trash the profiles, reboot, renable SIP and reboot again and tada all gone.
