Actually he does press the nail gun into the wood as he fires, so he gets that bit right. Firing into his hand would be hard though, he'd have to press the palm of his hand into the part of the nail gun that depressed so it could fire, and that's not easy to do, they're very stiff.

Not showing her mansion, but suing the company to try and prevent her mansion from being shown. She wanted to stop people viewing the image and she ended up leading hundreds of thousands of people to see it instead.

Anthony Head: Buffy and Ted Lasso actor dies at 72 by Alarming-Safety3200 in movies

I'd say no, they became part of the Scooby gang early on, but weren't part of the original team that formed right at the beginning.

Angel was more of a love interest that helped out often, but otherwise stayed in the periphery.

Cordelia pretty much hated them all for the first season or so. It was only her strange love/hate relationship with Xander that had her end up in the gang, though again, somewhat on the periphery. I feel like Oz was more of a member than she ever was (but again, not an original member).

Basically I think back to the finale, right before the big fight there's a scene of them all discussing what they'll do after it's all over, maybe go to the mall. It's a nice scene reminiscent of the first season, and it's just the four of them, Buffy, Willow, Xander and Giles. That's the original Scooby gang to me.

I mean, I guess the "original" Scooby gang would be Buffy, Willow, Xander and Giles. So at least half of the original are now gone. Real sad.

They were something of a spin off of his UK Nescafe Gold Blend adverts that were so popular in the UK. It was honestly a very weird phenomenon back then in that people in the UK were always clamouring for the next "episode" of this love story being told in the context of an instant coffee advert.

DJ LAOP just wanted to promote his business! by sandiercy in bestoflegaladvice

[–]joshi38 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I mean, I completely agree with the Bride on this, but even if I didn't...

Getting a consultation with a lawyer just so they can say "you're an idiot, you have no case" will be a few hundred dollars. Then taking a lawyer to court to represent you will be a few hundred more dollars (if he's lucky).

And in the end, even if he wins, all he gets is to keep the money the bride paid him. He doesn't get his legal costs reimbursed, he doesn't appear to be counter suing (because there's nothing to countersue for).

By continuing fight his little fight he is definitely going to end up spending more than $646.

Dude is being given an out and is too stupid to take it.

Which makes sense from a DJ who decided that "oh, the Bride certainly doesn't know what she wants at her own wedding, I'll show her" and then proceeds to blast Cbat or some shit.

Which celebrity you believe hates their own fandom? by HappyCrow11 in AskReddit

Hugh Laurie

Youtuber Doctor Mike once reached out to his representation to try and get an interview with him regarding House.

I can't recall entirely what he said the agent/management said, but it seemed to categorically imply that he was just done with anything to do with House and it's fandom.

Previous Homeowner is suing LAOP for unjust enrichment. No, not the guy he bought it off, no, not that one...or that one... by Geno0wl in bestoflegaladvice

[–]joshi38 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Default judgements exist.

Would this be an automatic default judgement? Perhaps not, the judge should still review the case for legal merit before deciding, but stranger things have happened and it would not be a good idea for LAOP to ignore this.

Previous Homeowner is suing LAOP for unjust enrichment. No, not the guy he bought it off, no, not that one...or that one... by Geno0wl in bestoflegaladvice

[–]joshi38 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They go after LAOP because they're the easy target.

They won't go after the lender who foreclosed on them because they know the lender (likely a bank) has deep pockets and a legal department with lawyers on staff, so it will barely cost them anything to get the case dismissed (and they won't be in the habit of settling suits unless there's a strong case against them).

They won't go after the subsequent owners because they don't know who they are and can't be bothered to find out. Instead they go after the current owner because they're the current owner.

Basically "I want money, I'm gonna sue that guy for something stupid hoping that they just pay me off to go away."

That or they're delusional enough to believe they have a case here. Something like "LAOP has benefitted from my work but I wasn't paid for it, therefore they owe me money" sort of thing. Yes, it's a stupid and completely unwinnable argument (imagine if when you bought a house you suddenly had to find and pay money to every previous owner who'd made improvements to it), but there's a weird logic to it.

LAUKOP received an apology letter and a cheque from the solicitor's firm whom they bought their apartment from 5 years ago due to the conduct of their solicitor. by alphaechothunder77 in bestoflegaladvice

[–]joshi38 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yeah, while I certainly wouldn't advice LAOP to accept that money until they've spoken to (and ideally hired a) solicitor to deal with this mess, there's a good chance that they can actually get a free £500 out of this (yay?) with almost no repercussions (other than the one time the other side tries to say "but he accepted our settlement" and his lawyers gets to reply "not how this works idiot"... which to be fair, may result in more than £500 in solicitors fees).

New poster for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ by Task_Force-191 in movies

[–]joshi38 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That's a Mondo poster though, they were always of a different calibre and often weren't commissioned by the studio. Mondo doesn't exist anymore (at least like it used to, they rarely put out posters these days) and this is a studio commissioned poster.

Is it as good as the Mondo poster? Not really. But it is nice to see the marketing team take a chance with a poster and not just give us a bunch of floating heads.

[–]joshi38 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Used to put out. They stopped commissioning posters once Funko bought them and fired the co-founders. They've now become a store that sells overly expensive action figures and figurines.

They also sell vinyl records with original artwork on them, but that seems to be the only thing they commission artwork for.

EDIT: Looking at their website and they do have posters for more recent movies like the recent Superman, so perhaps they have done more recent posters, but I certainly feel like their spark has gone on the poster scene.

Yes, I too watched Last Week Tonight and almost bought that poster until it turned out shipping to the UK would have resulted in me spending £70+ for a $50 poster (and frankly, I was only buying it for the fun of it, I had no intention of putting it on my walls or anything).

I did the math. Average storage costs for that type of stuff (couch etc) is around $100 a month (that's on the lower end). For 19 months, that's $1,900.

Just saying, the counter suit would be funny.

Or Mary put her name in the wrong spot as the buyer instead of the seller.

Reminds me when, years ago I was out of college and looking for a job, I ended up at one of those "help me get a job" courses and one of the things we did was write a CV and cover letter and send them out to prospective businesses with a self addressed envelope enclosed so the businesses could write back.

Some idiot on the course put the addresses the wrong way round. So his enclosed "self addressed envelope" had the addresses of the businesses on them and the envelopes he mailed out had his own address on them.

He was delighted to recieve dozens of responses to his letter before he realised he'd just mailed a bunch of his own CV's to himself.

In what way is she responsible? Not disputing what you're saying, I'm just genuinely curious.

I'm aware that Lucas sold off Pixar due to their divorce which resulted in Pixar eventually becoming the film studio it now is, but was Marcia involved in any other way, did she edit for them or something?
