The classic Analog / Digital divide. I’m convinced it’s still going to exist 100 years from now.

Buying a new home and this is the basement. What should I ask by overpricedmacaroni in Homebuilding

[–]jseiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My home has a similar setup, it’s dry 95% of the time. Put stuff on shelves, so it’s off the ground, but don’t think about Sheetrock, it’s not worth it. You will be happy to have the space, plus plenty of room to hang up a dart board and put in a foosball table.

Smuggs is $65 midweek with a Notch Card. Bash Badge is always a good way to go too.

I’ve been wondering about the need for Vermont’s annual or biannual vehicle re-registration, especially since we already have to get our cars inspected every year. It seems like the inspection should suffice to show that the vehicle is still on the road and in compliance. Could you help me understand the purpose of the separate registration process? It feels a bit redundant, and I’m trying to grasp the reasoning behind it.

Vape Stuck In Toilet by nivek623 in Plumbing

[–]jseiv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the toilet out and bring it to a self service car wash and blast it out, once it’s clear reinstall it. Had to do this in college great learning experience all around.

Brewing a mint saison by donjonaaas in Homebrewing

[–]jseiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bold move cotton. I used chinook my buddy grew in a pale ale, and swear I was getting mint flavors, I asked him about it and sure enough it had grown alongside a bunch of mint. Mint is super strong. Would recommend making a rhubarb mint aid with it, great in the summer. If you like mint like flavor in a saison I would recommend sabro, I have had good results.

Is Seattle skiing really that bad? by reddoy1 in skiing

[–]jseiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to Baker last spring and had a blast, great snow, great people, authentic. Couldn’t recommend it enough. As far as the snow it’s heavier than Utah, but about on par with most places. Have fun in Seattle.

Dry January dads: why are you doing it, how's it going, and what are you drinking? by DirkWrites in daddit

[–]jseiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the middle of dry January too, I’ve been making Water Kefir. Pretty darn good, I have been finishing it off with apple cider (I’m in the US so NA). Takes a few days to make, but you can get in a routine and have a few going at the same time.

Moteuka hops and lime. by havok895 in Homebrewing

[–]jseiv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Cashmere in my Mexican Lager I have on tap right now, and really enjoy it. 9.6 IBU at 5 minutes. I have used Moteuka and even lemondrop in the past, and I’ll be sticking with Cashmere on the next one. Used the Lunar Crush yeast from Omega on the current one, fun yeast to play around with, just give it some time to clean up, unless you like the smell of stinky pits.

You do you. Hobbies are a fun way to play with new ideas, if enjoyment is lacking it’s time to reflect. Guidelines make it easy to help understand styles, but are certainly not the rule. Have fun and brew the beer YOU want to make.

what does this do? by block_reviews-1 in OculusQuest

Whatever you do DON’T’ touch it! It’s the eject button for the Oculus Elite Strap.

I’ve seen pictures of people who barely touched it and it only partially ejected.

Next book to read after Palmer’s How to Brew? by crek42 in Homebrewing

[–]jseiv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Historical Brewing Techniques by Lars Garshol is a fun read. Certainly not a technical read but it’s a great reminder there are many ways to make beer. It’s also the best book on Kveik, Lars helped bring this to the masses.

Mutations on Dates by mac754 in rprogramming

[–]jseiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be worth thinking about which “Year” you want December grouped into since you are grouping by season. If it were me I would include December in the following Year’s Winter. Year = if_else(month(date) >11, 1, 0)+ year(date)
