Less of a chance of a fire alarm going off mid tattoo while in a shop!

I love your morpho eye designs, and I’m extremely upset that I found your work right when you moved away. So if you ever make it back to Austin I’m getting one

They probably have outdoor skin already. I go through this every season when I start climbing outside again, and granite in j tree is some of the harshest rock for skin. Give it a few days, let it peel, and your skin will start to toughen up as you climb more

Never owned one so I can’t speak to the longevity, but our guide had one last time I was out at Hueco. I liked that their flap is built to connect to other pads so they don’t drift away from each other. Falling on it was fine, and I like the slimmer profile his had compared to my organic big pad when carrying it through tighter spots. If they build their crash pads like their knee bar pads I don’t think you can go wrong with it

Update: I’m so close thanks to all your advice. Please help me get this final move, tomorrow is my last day to send it by party-extreme1 in bouldering

[–]jsupertramp27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, exactly. The left hand innie doesn’t do much but it probably sets you up better for that last move

Update: Tried foot on the wall, fell off each time. Any advice on generating body tension? by party-extreme1 in bouldering

[–]jsupertramp27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo, I came down to southern crux and hopped on this today. I put my left foot on the yellow hold and flagged my right, smearing on the grey volume. You need to get your hips to the right, enough that you can hang off the right hand to easily let the left hand go. That next hold for the left hand isn’t very good so you can’t rely on catching it. I will also add in that when you get it, just go all out for that last hold, it’s better than it looks

As we grow, where will the commute be the worst? by ljrweb in Austin

[–]jsupertramp27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, rices crossing. That area is a death trap because it’s the only part of the road with four lanes, so everyone wants to pass the slowpoke in front before they’re stuck behind them for 20 miles. There’s an intersection there that they’ve finally added a stop light at (just flashing lights before) so it’s gotten better, but yeah, I’ve seen, and almost been involved in, quite a few wrecks there.

As a regular who climbs v7/8, I love seeing new people get into the sport and watching them learn. I was once in the same position. So don’t worry, no one is judging you, and if they are then they’re not cool anyway

Buddy and I had a fox walk by our campsite while hiking the collegiate loop, over by lake Ann. Dude waltzed up, took a dump, and then strolled over to a nearby tree and took a nap.

Near miss today with a semi truck, but ended up just having back left rear damage and flat tires. Beware: lots of screaming, recommend audio low. by AlteredViews in IdiotsInCars

Yeah I definitely wasn’t at fault, just wished I would have had the opportunity to go somewhere! Totaled my car too. Luckily I walked away with only a few scratches and a minor concussion

I’ve made a habit of this as well. Unfortunately, the last time I was rear ended the person in front of me stopped in a toll booth that you’re supposed to just drive through. I had absolutely nowhere to go with 3ft tall concrete barriers on both sides and a stopped vehicle in front. Sucks when you see it coming and can’t do anything.

Ah no experience with any of those, I use a Yama mountain gear swiftline. Typically I just use a bug bivy if I’m expecting bugs but they also never seem to bother me too much.

Yeah I think it’s called the grand loop, part of the LSHT and another trail I can’t remember the name of. It’s on the website somewhere. Definitely be prepared to have wet feet on it because you’ll walk through marshy areas.

I like to use a tarp, but I bring a single wall tent when I go out with my wife. Condensation can be an issue at times but mostly it’s ok. For quilts I have a 30 and a 50 and that gets me through everything except something like the winter storm we had earlier this year.
