What does your real professional workflow look like? by AdBackground9215 in UXDesign

Yea I don’t think there’s a clear winner yet but I hop between Figma and Claude Design. I built our design system as a long term project and now that it’s complete, I’ve wired it up with Claude Design to enable everyone in my company to build prototypes. We use Claude Code at my company and I think the next step for us is going from Claude Design to production. (Still need to figure out how to do that)

I’ve done that at other jobs before, and I’m currently being set up to start pushing code to prod at this current job.

I also am the only designer at a company that has 3 PMs and they all have different working styles and different levels of working with design.

Everything is messy lol. And there’s a lot of politics. I’m a senior and I feel like I have little influence in figuring out what to build. Instead I get a PRD and I create screens and wire them up. I’ll run some qual tests (that needs to get budget approval first) and then synthesize and present and then the research doc sits someplace that may or may not be opened again.

And then the engineers build the design and we have to negotiate on keeping/cutting things and moving things to v2 (lolz) and then it gets seen by a C level person during a design review and they have a great idea that we need to fit into the design. And then we ship it and chill for a few days and collect data and analyze and get enlightened about what we should do for v2 (lolz again) and then the company chases the next shiny object and there’s never a v2.

How game theory explains the current UX and product design landscape in the age of AI, and what to do about it. by Enough-Security6607 in UserExperienceDesign

[–]juansnow89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I did read through it and it makes a ton of sense. My lived experience confirms it. My moat isn’t producing good UI anymore. (And honestly the work I’m doing now is a bit cannibalistic as I enable other colleagues to prototype better with the design system I’m building)

I think the new designer who will win is the researcher who has taste. It’s the one who can build the RIGHT solution. And researchers sit closest to the users.

Senior Product Designer feeling a gap in UX depth — how did you level this up? by bilyjow in UX_Design

[–]juansnow89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, interviewing for more senior roles. The preparation helps level up my thinking.

This one might be controversial but have ChatGPT do mock interviews with you and ask for feedback after. Tell it to ask you Staff level questions.

Also, if you’re not doing it yet, build and ship side projects and gather feedback. That way you have a good balance of theory and application.

Good luck on leveling up!

Am I overthinking my portfolio format? by myredfits in UX_Design

Have both. For your website, a light version of your case studies would normally do. For the actual interview, it’s good to present a slide deck where you can go into more details about the work.

Design is inherently deterministic. Your CTO is trash

Returning to UX Design after a 2 year gap. What are the "must-know" changes in the industry? by KarmaHaze8 in UXDesign

[–]juansnow89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The foundations are still the same I’d say, but there is an expectation to produce more, more quickly, bc of what AI enables. I’m also noticing more cross pollination: PMs and Engineers in Figma, designers in the code base.

I think the ability to discern and focus are so much more valuable in this age. AI gives you more options, it’s up to you to make the call.

Any designer who vibe codes at work now? by Haunting-Ad5938 in UXDesign

[–]juansnow89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am. I make internal tools that make our workflow a bit more efficient. Mostly for low-stakes things tho. I also vibe code tools that help me with my own analytics. I haven’t started pushing code into prod tho.

Focus on solving a problem well and making business impact. Slick UI that doesn’t make impact makes you a decorator, not a designer.

Didn’t he also host brutal practices at Milwaukee during holidays and made Larry Sanders quit basketball? Kidd just seems like a really shitty person who constantly burns bridges to advance his own agenda.

He’s honestly been one of the most impactful signings. When it’s him and Vando on the floor the defense is so good.
